Hi optomark,

These restorers are the best, but these pictures are badly damaged!

I shall watch with interest as the magic unfolds!

Thanks for your efforts so far guys.......its a big improvment. The pic is around 1974. It was a Catholic school in Co. Durham and and my memories of it are all happy ones.

I'm still plodding on with colour, but its to hot in my "office" after about 11am. and the laptop cant cope. I'll try to get a colour one on tomorrow.

Rabbit,

Thanks for the star, I'll stick where it should go.

ok here is my one.
If I play anymore it will become unrecognizable  :o :o

If you can rescan this at a higher resolution (300-600 dpi) then I would be willing to have another go at it. Just remember no compression when you resize it.

O'k if you want the end result be it on your own head ::)

I did not want to bring down the wrath of the Mods by  posting too many.

I have e-mailed optomark advising of a delay due to my "Office " being so hot even with the fan etc.
So I will not post again until tomorrow.

I am aiming at a 6x4 or even 7x8 final result that is why we are using e-mail.

Oh For a lovely thunderstorm to clear this heavy air! Mike,
The heat in my office was unbearable last night!

Do it when you are ready! but it will have to be the proper size for here!  I am sure it will still look good!

My Dear Rabbit, you can always guarantee words of encouragement from you.

If he as earned your praise bestow it
If you like him let him know
Let the words of true encouragement be said
Do not wait 'til life is over
And he is underneath the clover
For he cannot read his tombstone
 When he is dead

Hi MJB,

That is nice, who wrote it and where did it come from?  I love quotes and poetry,

Write it myself now and then!  But My Dad always used to say 'if you can't boost don't knock', then quote the 'moving finger writes' at me!

I am a do as you would be done by WYSIWYG person, do as you would be done by sort of person because life is too short for anything else!.

You earn the accolades chum!  Enjoy them!  Have another look, I am not the only one who liked your work!

Hi Mike,

Well I promised you a medal when it was done!  And I reckon that you have earned it!

I cannot take credit for the wording, it was done by another very clever lady, and sent to me especially for you!

Well done!   You have made a superb job of that picture!

Thanks for everybody's patience, it was a bit of a stuggle.

How twas done:

1. Do not use fourier transform as the dots are texture not like newspaper, and you lose detail
2. Use high pass to give some edges.
3. Paint in each missing coat and jumper etc then add 1 degree of noise
4. Literally draw and paint the window frames, use select oblong and stroke for bevels
5. Invent a glass texture
6. Copy and paste the good half of the damaged faces
7. Go back to the beginning and start again 6,7,8, times
8. If you area still with me you deserve a medal

It's a lot easier to use than moving a mouse around and watching the result up on the screen, Rabbit. You actually feel as though you are doing an ordinary painting...

My problem...have trouble holding brush or pen....so I've had to get used to the lovely flat mouse.  :)

No point in me having one, Rabbit, waste of money, I wouldn't be able to use it....but if you can close your fingers on a pen or paintbrush...I can imagine..... :(

And I thought my hands were bad!  I will never complain again about not having bending fingers! on the one they did last January.
