Are there any decendants of the Syme family here?
I've gotten as far back as William Syme (b. approx 1749) and Agnes Nucle (b. approx 1760).
One of the less common family names seems to be Mungo Syme, although there appears to be quite a few of them within the family.

there has been some interest in the symes before. if you go to search at top of page and put in syme and tick fife only you can see if any threads are of interest.

A Mungo Syme and wife lived in Sauchie, Clackmannanshire. I'm sure they had a son also called Mungo. This would have been in the 1960's.

Another Mungo Syme in Tullibody Cemetery? (This one died 24th May 1897)

I have a few Syme's in my tree.
William Syme born 17/9/1817 in Alloa married Catherine Anderson
His father was Mungo Syme born 1796 married Janet Anderson on 4 Dec 1816 in Alloa
His father was William Syme who married Agnes Smith
That is all I have as I have ot fully explored that part of the family yet.

There was a Mungo Syme who worked at Dollar Mine in the late 1960`s,just before the mine closed, but I am not sure if he had a son of the same name.

An item from mining accidents in Clackmannanshire. This one concerning a Mungo Syme.
26 August 1937
A 36-year-old miner was fatally injured in an accident at Meta Pit, Fishcross, near Alloa, late on Wednesday night. Mungo Syme, 15 Crandra Row, Sauchie, near Alloa, was pinned to the ground by a stone weighing two tons, which fell from the roof. Two men working, in the near vicinity went to his aid. The rescuers, by means of an iron rail, tried to lever the stone from Syme's body, and after half an hour succeeded in doing so. It was found, however, that he was dead. [Scotsman 27 August 1937]
There is now a caravan site, 'The Woods,'on the site of this mine.
