Hello All,
Jonah Lister
Birth
Q December 1886
Houghton-le-Spring
Durham
Vol 10a
Pg 448
I found out today from the 1911 census that this man was linked to my family by marriage:
Mary A Gibson
Jonah Lister
Marriage
Q December 1910
Houghton-le-Spring
Durham
Vol 10a
Pg 882
As my Grandad (Mary A Gibson and Jonah Lister's nephew) was called Jonah Lister Gibson, I think I finally found who he was named after! My Grandad was born on 14th February 1914 so I didn't know if something had happened to Jonah Lister for him to get his name?
I have no idea what happened to Jonah and Mary Lister after 1911. Nor can I find anything on Jonah Lister before 1911. Can anyone help me find more info please?
Thanks for any help!
Regards, Emma ;)

Hello Emma
He's a very elusive man! I think you may need to get their marriage cert to find his father's name and occupation, or his birth cert, which would give that plus his mother's maiden name.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply!! He is well hidden isn't he?! I will look into getting the certificate and see what happens... I heard that some of my Grandad's family went off to Australia so I wasn't sure if Jonah was one of them... Ah well, a whole new mystery to unravel!
Regards, Emma ;)

UPDATE (after a little while!)
I now know that Jonah Lister passed away in Hetton in 1939 and Mary passed away the year after.
Jonah was born on 12th November 1886 at 18 Success Row, Newbottle, to Elizabeth Helen Lister, domestic servant, daughter of Ralph Lister, a coal miner.
I am still having difficulty finding Jonah prior to 1911. If anyone is able to help while I'm also searching, I'd really appreciate it.
Regards,
Emma

Have you located his mother, did she marry

Thank you for the reply. They are an elusive family and I'm still trying to pinpoint them pre-Jonah, so I'm not yet sure what happened to his mother after he was born.
