Hello
I have a Great Great Uncle, Edward Pearson who emigrated to America.
I know that he first emigrated in 1871 on the vessel James Foster Jr. He must have come back to England sometime between then and 1878 which is when he married Maria Allatt back in Yorkshire (2nd quarter 1878, Pontefract).
Edward then moved back to America around 1880, his son Edward Joseph's birth was registered 4th quarter 1880 again in Pontefract. His wife, according to later censuses emigrated in 1882.
If possible I would like to find out the following:-
1. When did Edward come back to England
2. When did Edward go back out to America. He isn't in the 1881 census.
3. When did his wife Maria ( with children Annie Stacey Pearson and Joseph Edward Pearson) emigrate to America. I have them in the 1881 census.
Edward was born 1853, Whitwood Mere and Maria was born about 1854 Castleford. Edward worked in the Glass industry.
Many thanks for your help.

Hello again
Many thanks for that information, all new to me so very pleased.
Must confess to being a little ignorant on American censuses, bmd's etc as haven't had any previous dealings with any other members of my family.
I have Edward Pearson now in the censuses for 1900 to 1930, was there a census for 1890 and if so can he be found on it?
I believe Edward died around 1938/9 but so far haven't found his death, are there any sites which would have death details for him (he doesn't appear to be on the Family Search Pilot site mentioned above).
Similarly are there any sites where I could find the birth of his children, Miriam about 1884/5 (Ohio) and Nellie about 1886 (Ohio) and the marriages of his son Edward Joseph presumably to a Pauline and his daughter, Miriam to a M C Collier.
Any help very much appreciated
Thank you very much

Hi Bob -
Unfortunately, the U.S. does not have a type of centralized BMD like Great Britain. Wish they did!!
Some states and locations have some indexes. Couldn't find anything helpful on ancestry in Wisconsin, Ohio or Washington. Another unfortunate thing is the 1890 census burned! There are fragments only and none for these areas.
Found this though -
NY passenger lists 1820-1957
May 13, 1871
Arrived on Jas. Foster Jr.
Edward Pearson, glass blower, age 17, from England
I'll let you know if I come across anything else that looks helpful!

Hello
From my earlier post I have found Edward Joseph on a Draft registration card of 1917 and this mentions nearest relative as Pauline Pearson. This, I presume is his wife of whom I have no further knowledge. Is it at all possible to find the family in the 1920 census? Edward was born in England, 1880 and in 1917 his address was given as Anacortes, Skagit, Washington.
Simiarly I have found through an earlier post the death of Miriam Allott Collier in 1935, Miriam being the brother of the previous Edward. Her husband was given as M C Collier who I, again have no further knowledge of. Is it possible to find this family in the 1930 census? Miriam's death in 1935 was in Anacortes, Skagit, Washington and in 1920 she was with her parents in the same city, unmarried. Miriam was born Ohio in July 1884.
Many thanks for all your help.
