Thanks :-) The grandson was extremely moved [going by his emails] and most certainly appreciated it....i only did what i hope anyone else would do for me. It's sort of payback too... for help i've had in the past when i first started...i remember how excited i was getting an original photo. Some things we never forget :-)

Aw thanks Dawny :-) It was very satisfying. I've now bought a 1937 framed life saving certificate i'm going to try and reunite with a family.
Glad you enjoyed my site :-) It's been a labour of love for a decade...

Well thank you so much Judi! :-) there are so many of 'us' out there :-) I just hope that my story encourages others to do this sort of thing - the feel good effect lasts for ages!

Some of you may remember my story about purchasing WW1 NZ soldier Rifleman William PERREAU's British War Medal and discharge certificate and managing to reunite them with his grandson in Australia.
As a postscript, there is now a headstone on his grave thanks to his grandson, however this was the second effort...the first effort saw the headstone erected on the wrong grave in August 2009! Thankfully the postion did not look right to my partner and I where we envisaged it should be and so i queried it on the grandsons behalf. We managed to resolve the issue [the installer got the wrong cemetery division but what they thought was the right row and plot as the numbers were the same] and it was placed on Williams grave in September. I took some photos today and have added them to my website for him www.sarndra.com/perreau.html
