John How/Howe married Ann Hinchcliff(e) at Kirburton in October 1795. There is no date given on the IGI.
I believe I have found a baptism for John at Penistone on 22 Mar 1772, the son of John How but presumably there may be many Johns son of John.
On the IGI there is the marriage of John How and Sarah Hobson at Pensitone on 20 May 1771.
Is anyone aware where the parish records for Penistone are kept?
Thank you.

There no date in the transcripts I've got either...perhaps they were unable to the writing in the registers. The record does show they were both of the Kirkburton parish.

I've been looking at some Penistone Parish Records today in the Main Library in Barnsley.

Note: It is PENISTONE not PENSITONE. Although there are microfilm/fiche copies of the registers in Barnsely Central Library, the Society of Genealogists in London, and elsewhere, I note you ask where the actual registers are kept. They are held by the West Yorkshire Archive Service at the Registry of Deeds, Wakefield.

Thank you for the responses. I am aware it is Penistone; my fingers are too big for the keyboard!
I don't live near Barnsley or Wakefield so I shall have to make a special trip at sometime in the future.

I checked whether Barnsley FHS had transcribed and published the Penistone PRs. Unfortunately for you, only from 1800.
You could try posting your message on the YWR Lookup Requests board rather than this general one. There are some very kind helpful and experienced people offering to do lookups.
If you still have no joy and have to travel to Yorkshire, be aware that you need to book an appointment at Wakefield where the actual registers are archived, but not at the Archives & Local Studies Dept of Barnsley Central Library where they have copies, though it is still advisable to book a microfiche or -film reader.
Happy hunting,

Hi - The Huddersfield & District Family History Society have booklets of the parish records for Kirkburton at a very reasonable price:
http://www.hdfhs.org.uk/publications/society/parishsales/parish2.htm
I have the Silkstone PR CD and that has a lot of Penistone records but there are none of any of the names you mention except:
Sarah Hobson b. 24 June 1753 at Dodsworth, dau of Jno Hobson

Hello everyone and thank you for the posts and I shall post on the 'Look Up' forum.
I found a Sarah Hobson on the IGI, baptised 25 May 1747 at Penistone; father William so even if she is the correct mother then it looks like a dead end anyway.
