you can order certs from the GRO - www.groireland.ie, or the GRONI (General Registrar's Office of Northern Ireland) http://www.groni.gov.uk/index/order_certificates.htm using the Index details you have : name, year/quarter, registration district, volume & page
If he was in Belfast in 1911 you may find him on the Census : http://census.nationalarchives.ie/

are Edmund and Henry father and Son ?
I am presuming that they may be in Belfast or near Moira
not all the counties are available yet on the National Archives census website.. Down and Antrim are
The other counties followed by the 1901 data are due to be completed later this year

yes Shane they are father and Son
Have got a lot of information about the English side of the family on the northumbrian site
still finding hard to chase up the McConnells in northern ireland - but then i might not get far as EH McConnell was a foundling! So i suppose i have to start with getting his birth cert. he was in england for 1911 census, cant find him on ni census for 1901, and as i dont know any history about him it is so hard - dont know his parents names, but presume he 'took' the name of mcconnell from the people that raised him.

Hi
There is another post about Edmund as he married in 1907 to Margaret Algar in Northumberland
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,388570.msg2602270.html#msg2602270
Henry is probably their son
I recommended an Irish 1901 lookup for Edmund as he was in Northumberland in 1911

Hi Gail
The children were b Northumberland - not Ireland so I have posted some info on your other post
-
...he was in england for 1911 census, cant find him on ni census for 1901,
the 1901 census details are not on line on the National Archives website yet. (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/)
They are due to start processing these as soon as the 1911 data is completed - hopefully later this year.

you should be able to order a cert for him from the GRO based on just the index information you mentioned in your first post...
see : http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm
download the form and fill in the details you know...make sure these details are included :
Name : Edmund McConnell
Record Type : Birth

volume 1 / page 625

Thanks Shane - but would it not matter that he was born in the north of ireland?
we were all part of the United Kingdom back then - i.e. pre Independence in 1922..
So the index books and registers in the GRO (Dublin/Roscommon) cover the whole of the island of Ireland.

Ok Folks need a wee bit of help today to complete my search!!
As you may already know my great grandfather was a foundling - so in order to find out who he was i had to go to GRO yesterday and search his birth cert - was doubtful i would find anything! But low and behold i found him - he was born on 28/10/1886,registered on 10th Dec 1886, no birth father registered, mother - Mary McConnell, seamstress, her place of residence was listed as drumo + drumcro, that is all the details i have for her, no age, no parents,i am assuming her year of birth could range from 1845 - 1871.where do i go from here or is this the brick wall!
Thanks for reading this, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
