It is quite common for folk of this time to be married in the brides home town and be carried off or walked to be married where the couple were living for friends and other family. As brewer his friends would except nothing less for obvious reasons. I am related to most but not all the NIsbet linen weavers and coal miners of Dunfermline indeed I am informed that Nisbet be be related to St Margaret herself but I have yet to see the proof as she was the daughter of an English king and Hungarian noble princess!
I will check out Jean for you which was most times pronounced Jane not Jean as we know it, as a harsh denim wear.

Is this of any use
From the Scottish naming pattern you would expect his father
To be called Robert
Willian Ch. 4.8.1771 Auchtertool to Robert Wilson & Isabella Crawford
2nd son Thomas after her Father
there is a Jean Ch. 6.9.1779 Carnock to Thomas Nisbet & Kathrine Anderson
this fits as the 1st daughter was called Catherine
