I am interested for any information on a family John and Agnes Dawson who emigrated to Queensland, Australia from Clackmannanshire, Scotland some time after 1906.

Hi Dougal

There is no Agnes and John showing in Clackmannanshire in the 1901 census, so they either married after this date or moved there after the 1901 census.

Do you have any more information on them? Agnes' maiden name would let you check when and where they married. Their marriage cert. would confirm their parents' full names and include their ages and other information to let you move on from there.

Hi Monica,

Agnes appeared on the census in 1901 under her maiden name (Paterson). She married John Dawson in 1906 and emigrated to Australia sometime after their marriage.  I have information about their roots prior to their marriage, but I was looking for info on possible descendants still in Australia.

I wonder if you'd do better putting this request for info on the Australia Board and asking in the subject line for help tracking them down from someone who has acccess to say electoral rolls in Queensland.

There will be a cut off point with the info given on your thread as we are not allowed to post stuff on living persons... :(

Do you happen to know what John's occupation was??  It will help track the right couple down on the Electoral Rolls.

Also the QLD BMD is available to search for free online at

ADDED -- could your Agnes be ... Agnes Pearson Taylor PATTERSON??  There is a birth and a  death for a child for her and a John DAWSON.

Hi there,

Followed the link to Queensland archives and the family I was looking for was indeed the John Dawson and Agnes P T Patterson.  Their son died at a very early age, so unless there were any more children (I doubt that), the trail will dry up.
