Hi
I'm assuming sister Margaret was also b Glasgow?
If so - the only Margaret Weir who isn't married in 1901 was b Lanark Lanarkshire 1872 and was living with mother Mary aged 63 b Wanlockhead Dumfriesshire
I can't find James and wife Mary in 1891 but they appear to have been married by then

Karen and Carole,
Margaret was actually born April 1872. You can get a list of James Weir and Phillis Gray's children on Family Search. Here's Monica's advice from another thread (hope she doesn't mind me copying it over! ;D_ --
To do a parent search on Family Search, go to the International Genealogica Index (IGI) screen. Simply put in full father and mother's names on the r/h side and then British Isles/ Scotland. Sometimes when you do this type of search you may see results for more than one couple with the same names, you can then add time filters and/or counties (although be aware that people moved around more and you may miss some births if not in the counties you are expecting).
Margaret died 1930 in Alexandria, Dumbartonshire, the wife of James Scott Anderson, coal master. A quick search of SP for their marriage shows it as 1892 in Blythswood district, Glasgow. Hopefully Carole can find them in 1901 for you.

I'm new to this rootschat website.
I recently obtained a watch by James Weir of Glasgow, it is just the movement and dial, incomplete, but the plates are in nice condition. I thought the persons looking for his family history could be interested. Thankyou, David

In the Parish of East Kilpatrick valuation roll 1920-1921. Jas Scott Anderson Coalmaster is residing in Garscadden House, New Kilpatrick as a tenant. The owner Rev William Erskine Campbell Colquhoun had died and his English estate "Chartwell" was being put on the market for sale. Guess who bought it? The Scottish estate was "rented out" as his heir was Captain Archibald John Campbell Colquhoun and still "in the army".
