Hi
Does anyone have access to the parish registers for St Mary the Virgin at Stone?
I am looking for the records for my Gaiger family relatives who lived in the parish at the turn of the 20th century.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could let me have details of the baptisms of the children of William Gaiger and Laura Collins m 1897 in Stone. I know of Queenie (1898), Ada (1900), Beatrice (1901), William (1902) and Leonard (1904), but there may be others as well.
Hope someone can help me!
Thanks
Jo

Thank you very much to everyone who has replied so far.
I had all the bmd entries for the other children, the reason I want the parish records is to confirm the parents are definitely William and Laura, as the was another Gaiger married to a Collins around the same time. The first lot of children are attributed to William and Laura through 1901/1911 Census records.
Many thanks for your continued help.

Well, the parish records are not indexed by name, but it should only keep you busy looking for a day or so. Results no.s 70-72 or so.

Hi Pauline
Thank you for your reply. I have looked through the records on City Ark but they didn't have online images for the period I was looking for, the baptisms only went up to 1871, which is 30ish years too early.

Look again. It goes up to 1995.
Number 72 covers 1912 to 1920.

Hi Pauline
Sorry I don't seem to be able to find the page you are referring to. Is this the page you are meaning when you say p72?

Any help you can give me would be great.
Many thanks

Jo, if you go to the home page of Medway Cityark http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/ and select online parish registers you will get to a page containing the list of parishes. Go down the list to "Stone" - clicking that will take you to a list of items for Stone. Those which are online will have "buttons" to click ie. "Result number 72" which is baptisms 1912-1920.

Hi, I love looking at City Ark and had a quick look and found Beatrice's baptism. You need to click on parishes / Stone / and then scroll down till you find the dates you want. It's a bit confusing because they are further down the page - just keep scrolling till you see the dates you are after - they are there honestly :)
Enjoy. R. ;D

Thank you very much! I had foolishly thought that all the baptism records would be together, so I hadn't scrolled right down to the bottom of the page!
What a fantastic resource City Ark is! I had never used it before, but I will certainly be checking out a few of the other Kent parishes as well.
Many thanks everyone - I have managed to locate the records I wanted.

Hi
I have quite a bit of information about your ancestors that I am happy to share if you would like?
I am just curious to know why your mother does not appear in my database of Gaigers! Was she born in Kent? I only have a marriage for William Henry Thomas Gaiger at the age of 48 to Olive E Barnden. Was that your mother's mother or was William married previous to that marriage?
Thanks, Jo

My Grandmother was Ada Gaiger.
Other relatives that lived in St. Mary's road were/are :-

Laurie Crisp (Melvin's brother) Married to Shiela nee Gammon.
My was Dad Ernest George Sutton
My Mother was Constance Ada Blanche Sutton, nee Crisp

My Uncle was William Henry Thomas Gaiger. he also worked for Blue Circle Kent Works cement plant at Stone for 44 years and retired in Oct 1967 (I have his retirement tray from the Blue Circle). He had a daughter Jennifer, my cousin.
