My wife's mother's side are involved here. It's a long story for this forum...but...James Eadie was the uncle of Agnes Eadie who married Thomas Horsburgh at the Wyndford Hotel, Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire (1869). At the time of the marriage, Thomas was an apprentice brewer living with James at 41 Cross St. Burton (1871 Census). Agnes' father (John) is shown as a tea merchant at the time of the wedding; William (Agnes' brother) and Isobella (Agnes' sister) were witnesses. Although the ceremonyt was held at the Wyndford Hotel (which may have been the family home) the Banns were as per the United Presbyterian Church with the pastor being from Dennytowun (Denny). In the 1891 Census, Agnes is shown as living at 30 Stapenhill Rd. Stapenhill, Burton with a cemetery not far away. It looks as though it was a posh area and there is a street view of the house still standing on Google Maps.
As it is the Horsburgh side that I am researching I haven't progressed the Eadie side too much. I know from somewhere (Can't find it at the moment) that James lived in Branstone Rd, Burton - I think no. 40.
On the Hosburgh side, there are a few descendants (both male and female) who were given the middle name of Eadie.
Hope this bit helps.

Hi Bron :)
I'm not connected to your family, but just thought that someone should explain why Dave isn't replying to your PMs. He has only made one post so far, and new members have to make at least three before they can access the PM system. I'm sure he wouldn't deliberately ignore you :D

Hi Carol, I didn't think he was ignoring me. It's just his Mailbox is full (states so), that's all. I'm patient and can wait. Thanks though. 8) 8) 8) 8) ;D

Hi b1b2j3,
Carol is correct, also "the mailbox is full message" is what you get when the user has not made 3 posts, so cannot use the PM system. As he was on yesterday, he may log back in today to see if there is any reply.

Yes Carol is correct...I can't reply to personal messages yet until I've made 3 posts...hopefully this is no.2. I have e-mailed you directly in response to the only information message I received. Now I've read that one I may get the others. As I've been on this machine all day, I've only scanned the information and will have a better look tomorrow. However, wow to some of the information re the Horsburghs and yes they are from Haddington Marion Oliver is the farthest I've got back to. I'll catch up with this on Monday (14/1 - GMT of course).
