Hi if anyone is going to the Surrey History Centre please could they do me a look up.
I'm trying to find out the name of people living at
Homewood Cottage, Newark road, Ripley.
during the War so an electoral register look up for 1939 or 1945 would be appreciated.
My Dad was evacuated here from Portsmouth and would have been 5 years old at the time but thinks either his Dad's brother or sister lived here.
Thank you

Might it be Homewood Farm Cottages in Newark Lane?
Can you post the surnames of the brother and sister?

Hi Shaun,
I think the address now is probably
Homewood Farm, Newark Lane , Ripley GU23 6DJ.
The address on my original post is from a birth certificate from 1944.
Surnames of Dads Aunts/Uncles were Weston, Prior, Freemantle and one thats unknown as I haven't found marriage of that particular aunt. If dad's got it wrong and it was his mums brothers they were staying with surname will be Derrick.

Hi Teresa
I can't do a look-up at Surrey History Centre, but I sometimes get to the British Library where you can order and look at electoral registers there.
If this hasn't been done for you at Surrey before I go to the British Library next, I'll try and order the registers and have a look for you.

I was hoping to find some clues in the 1940's phone books but haven't found anything as yet.
NB There is a Homewood cottage listed in the 1911 census as well as Homewood Farm.

Thank you Shaun for trying the phone directories and Dawn for offering to look at the British Library next time you are there.
