Hello. Does anyone know if the Banns for All Saints, Hockley, Birmingham have survived? My great-grandfather, Edwin Turner OSBALDESTON married Ann PRATT by banns on 21 Sept 1862. I would be grateful if someone could let me know the dates on which the banns for this marriage were read.

Hello....Banns are usually read for the 3 Sundays BEFORE the marriage takes place.....hope this helps ?

If you take a look at the recent RootsChat topic "The life of a con man part 2" you'll see that some fellow chatters were wondering exactly how long my great-grandfather, Edwin Turner OSBALDESTON, had known Ann PRATT before they were married on 21 Sept 1862.
ETO deserted from the Royal Artillery on 9 July 1862 and presumably went straight from the Isle of Wight where he'd been stationed to Birmingham where his mother and siblings were living. Among our family history material there's a note saying that ETO met Ann PRATT at Acock's Green on 1 Sept 1862. If this is true, does it mean that the Banns for their marriage were read on 7, 14 and 21 Sept and that the couple were then married on Sunday, 21 Sept following the third reading of the Banns?
