Would anyone have a copy of the Wood Coffil funerals book vol 1 produced by Blue Mountains historical society. I am after the death notice for George Richard Romans who died in 1917, and whos death was never recorded at BDM office. Need to know where he died so I can register his death.
Any suggestions welcome

Kristene,
Would the Blue Montians Library at Katoomba have a copy and do a lookup? the Library is a Blue Mountains Council Library.
if you don't get an answer from a RCer with Vol i then this might give you a lead...

Charlotte,
Tried to email Blue Mountains Historical society, but never replied to my email. My local library at Bathurst does not have a copy. The BMHS does sell the book at $55,but if the book does not have the info I'm after it would be a waste of money.

$55 is an impossible amount.
Perhaps another way to get a look at the book is to ask you local library to get it in for you on an interlibrary loan.

might see if the local library would do that tomorrow, thanks for the idea.

If that doesn't work, the State Library of NSW would almost certainly have a copy- or maybe it would be the Mitchell Libary- catalogues probably on line.
Let us know what happens

If you know the exact date I am happy to see if there is a death notice in a contemporary Sydney paper. I'll be at the library on Wednesday.
Google "Wood Coffill" and you will find they are still going. They may be able to help you.

Thanks for the offer, but there is only the funeral notice in the Sydney Morning Herald no death notice. He was buried at Rookwood Cemetery and I have been there and taken a photo, even the Independant office could not help. From what I can gather the funeral Directors back then were suppose to register the death, but if never happen.
