Hi just a query - my Grandmother (now passed away) married Pais Ballantine Jan/Mar 1938 and was subsequently divorced. I was under the impression that he came from Hexham in Northumberland. Could anyone do a look up for me please - I have no other information than born Jan/Mar 1917 thanks. :)
-
Sorry just reading back realised its probably too soon for look ups on the census :-[ it was just such an unusual name - wondered if that was the dads name also???

Thank you - it was one of those silly brickwalls - although not related just wanted to find out about him - why did my Nan marry him at 18 and divorce so quick?? (dont you wish you could ask??) still she did go on and marry another 2 times!!
-
I'm looking for a Ballentine/Lindsay marriage at the moment -if you want his parents names you could order the certificate.
Busy lady!

Can't seem to find a marriage anywhere - tried various spellings but no luck!

You didn't give first names or dates for your marriage, Laurina, but there is one in Gateshead third quarter 1907 Thomas Ballantine and Edith Lindsay, if this is any good

Well done Christine - I didn't find that marriage - I simply looked up the birth for Pais, which gave me the mother's maiden name.
Thomas Ballantine / Edith Lindsay - 3Q 1907 Gateshead 10a 1744 - just incaseyou wish to order it

From looking at the 1911 census it appears that Thomas was called Thomas Patterson Ballantine b.1888 and Edith was born 1890. They had a son Thomas William Ballantine b.1910
They married quite young.
I checked out their birth's
Thomas Patterson Ballantine 4Q 1887 Hexham 10b 301
Edith Lindsay 1Q 1890 Hexham 10b 335

hi, your post has really helped me, been looking for my ballantine family for years and always hit a brick wall, my grandads name was john ballantine he barely spoke of his family, so we had no information to go off appart from his birth certificate which listed his parents as thomas ballantine and Edith Lindsay, seems like you filled in a few of the gaps on here, just wondered if you have anymore information that could help us, thank you.

Hi Nettie, not much I'm afraid, my Grandmother died when I was quite young and I only found out about Pais's name because it was on her marriage certificate to my Grandfather as the previous wife of.... so it came as quite a shock to see that she had been married before!
-
Ok, thanks anyway, you've been a great help, I myself am still building the ballantine family tree so if I come across anything that I think may interest you I will repost it on this thead, once again, thank you!

Hey! Just seen ur post , seems we could be related, I have been building a family tree. Maybe we could help each other x
-
Hi Nettie78,
My name is Michael Pais Ballantine, son of Pais Ballantine who originated from Mickley / Prudhoe in Northumberland where he was born 4th December 1916 from the Thomas Ballantine / Edith Lindsay line. I hope this helps you. Like you I am just starting a family tree and I am stuck trying to trace his father / my Grandfather. I hope you can help. Regards mikeb25

Hi mikeb, av u got any documents ie birth certificate, if so and ur fathers parents were Thomas Patterson Ballantine and Edith Lindsay and he was born at mickley square I have quite a lot of the tree built, x
-
Hi Nettie78, and thanks for the quick reply.
Sorry, I got that just a little wrong. I should have said the line of Walter Ballantine born 1857 and Elizabeth A Patterson born 1862 of whom Thomas Ballantine was one their children. I just can't pin down which of the children was father to Pais who of course was my father.
What is your connection?
Regards,
mikeb25

It is my understanding that pais was my grandfathers brother,
My grandfather "John Ballantine" was the son of Thomas Patterson Ballantine and Edith Lindsay, my grandad never really spoke of his family, all we could go off was his birth certificate,
Have u any other information regarding ur father?
