Sarah FROST was my GG Grandmother, the 1851 Census states that she was born in Bonsall. She married my GG Grandfather Henry FLINT, on 18 February 1806, and most of their long married life seems to have been spent in Wessington.
I am desparately trying to find the names of the parents of Sarah FROST. My calculations seem to point to the fact that Sarah FROST would have been born around 1787.
Can anyone help and point me in the right direction?
Many thanks,
Alan

How did you find her maiden name was Frost?

My word that was quick!
It was the IGI.

Looking at the 1851 I see thier daughter was born in Lea - so that indicates possibly that they hadnt always lived in Wessingham
Henry Flint 82 Poor Law loom weaver bn Tansley
Sarah 64 bn Bonsall
Sarah Bacon dtr 32 widow bn Lea
Ann BAcon 10 dtr bn Wessingham.
you will need to search parish registers for a christening for Sarah around 1787 in Bonsall and neighbourinf parishes.
They will be at the local record office in Derbyshire. Or you may be lucky if someone on here has access.
Hopefully a moderator will move this to the Derbyshire Board where the "locals" can have a look.
Have you checked the IGI for a christeneing?
Moderator's Note: moved to Derbyshire board as suggested.

On a Birth/Christening search, all that the IGI says is:
"About 1787 Bonsall, Derby, England".
Yes, your point about the FLINT's living in Lea could well be valid. There were a number of FLINTs in the Dethick, Lea & Holloway area, as well as Crich, which is actually where I live.
Thank you for your help & suggestion of moving this thread to the Derbyshire Board.
Just as a matter of interest, on looking at this today, and having had to revise the Birth dates of both, I now realise that Henry FLINT would have been 37, and Sarah FROST would have been 19, when they were married.
Henry, it would appear, lived till he was 91, and Sarah died when she was 66, some seven years before Henry.
Thanks again,
Alan

Looks like the IGI entry is submitted rather than extracted - therefore no more than someone's suggestion.
Even I (who know nothing about the family) have got as far as "there may be a christening about 1787 in Bonsall or roundabout" and that is all the IGI entry says.
Got to be Parish Registers.
Your Profile doesnt say where you are - but if you can get to the Record Office yourself nothing beats searching yourself!

Thanks again lizdb. I agree, a visit to the DRO is going to be about the only solution. Still being at work (at least until December) usually prevents me from getting there during the week, but I will have to see what I can do.

If you are going to Matlock then I would strongly suggest checking that the marriage you found on the IGI is correct. I assume the marriage was in Derbyshire.
It won't take long to check and then you can be certain of her maiden name before you begin searching. I have found more than one mistake on extracted IGI entries.
I have Frost links in Castleton - I think it is a Derbyshire name.
(Got rid of my typos now) :)

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Have you visited John Palmer's wonderful Wirksworth Parish website which is www.wirksworth.org.uk This website is a fountain of information containing parish records, census, etc, not just for Wirksworth but for the surrounding parishes of Cromford, Bonsall, Crich etc. On it is a lot of information about the Flint family. Have you also tried the DerbysGen website, another helpful place to look.
