Hi All  ;)

I am seeking any information on James Edward SHRUBSOLE & Margaret nee CAIRNS they were the hotel keepers"The Bull at Wrotham, Kent 1872-1890 and he also managed the "Borough Green" hotel as well. I know they had at least one child Charlotte C SHRUBSOLE born approx 1867.
If anyone has a connection please contact me, thanks  8)

I don't have a connection but see they were also at "The Bull" in 1871 with just the one daughter (then aged 2). He was aged 34 b.Maidstone and she aged 30 b.Scotland. Also a couple of servants including Elizabeth SHRUBSOLE nursemaid age 19 b.Hythe, Kent.

I have a Norah SHUBSOLE that married Edward William Busbridge - Fletcher in 1903, Milton District, Kent.  No further information on Norah but I do have information on the Fletcher line if it fits into your data.

I believe this maybe the James Edward SHRUBSOLE I am seeking same year & place.

Margaret CAIRNS from Forfarshire, Scotland had an illigitimate son Andrew CAIRNS in 1861 which her parents raised.

In 1862 she came out to New Zealand on the SS "Queen of the Mersey" with her brother James CAIRNS and married James Edward SHRUBSOLE here in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1864, I have a copy of the Wedding Certificate.

Was James Edward SHRUBSOLE Andrew's father and did he follow Margaret to New Zealand or did he meet her over here in New Zealand.

In 1881 Census it has the following:
SHRUBSOLE James E age 44 born Maidstone, Kent, HotelKeeper
Margaret age 40 Wife born Forfarshire, Scotland
Charlotte C age 12 daughter born Wrotham, Kent
William G age 25 nephew born Maidstone, Kent, Artist (Landscape Painter)
All of them were at the "Bull Hotel, Wrotham, Kent

Charlotte second Christian name I am positive would be CAIRNS as they kept surnames in their family very often.

On the Free BDM I found the following:
Death Dec 1898
SHRUBSOLE Charlotte age 30 .........Eastry 2a        595

Again same name and age

It doesn't look as if that is your Charlotte who died in 1898 as she appears married in 1901 :)

One can't be certain but there is a possible marriage for a Charlotte Caroline SHRUBSOLE to (one of the two possible spouses) Charles Ransley TANTON in the Tonbridge (Kent) district 1892 see http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

Here's a possible entry for a Charles Ransley TANTON in 1901 but it would need checking out ............

Charles Ransley Tanton m 1907 Kate Beatrice Palmer

Also Charlotte C Tanton m 1910 Charles Stuart H Robarts  2a    877

So it looks like they got divorced and remarried.
