Have you been into the website: www.irish-roots.ie? It has baptismal etc records from North and East Cork. I saw a record for James Cronin which seems to fit your James. To access the details of the record you have to pay, I think it is five euro.
All the best with your research.

I dont think the IFHF website includes records after about 1910, however they are included in the Civil register.

The familysearch pilot site includes Irish Civil Index details up to 1958 - see : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

the townland of Dromtarriff, and the town of Newmarket are both in the registration district of Kanturk

research cert can be ordered from the GRO using the details on the index : www.groirelend.ie
(name, record type, year/quarter, registration district, volume & page)

the 1911 census for Co. Cork is online at the National Archives website at : http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

quite a few Cronins listed ...maybe some clues to be found there
