Title: 1881 census Lee
Post by: derekpara on Wednesday 03 June 09 20:21 BST (UK)
Could anyone please look up my grandad in the 1881 census, please ?

Ernest Richard LEE b 1976  Shoreditch, London.

Father, Richard Lee.  Mother, Ann Maria Lee.

All living in Shoreditch 1881

Many thanks.

Derek.

PS.  If anyone can point me to Ernest's birth registration, that would be marvellous.

This looks like them, however Ernest is recorded as Ernest William Lee.

LEE  Richard 1818 Head Porter
 Ann Maria 1839 Wife
 Arthur Richard 1872 Son Scholar
 Ernest William 1876 Son Scholar

London 1881 13 Parr Street | Shoreditch

Birth index for Ernest William Lee is Q1 1876 (1c, 80) - Shoreditch.

Hope this helps

Jovi,  what can people like me say about people like you ,except Thanks ?

Ernest Willam Lee was correct, the error was mine.

Are Richard Lee and Ann Maria on the 1871 cencus anywhere? Or is there any way of tracing their marriage certificate ?

Hope I'm not imposing - if I am, just ignore me !

Thanks again.

Derek

Ernest's birth cert will give his mothers maiden name which would make finding a marriage more accurate.

is this them in 1871?

Eagle Wharf Shoreditch
Richard 53 Warehouseman bn Peckham
Maria wife 32 bn Wiltshire
William 2 bn Shoreditch
Harriet 6 mths bn Shoreditch

answering my own question, yes it does look like them, as I have just looked at the 1881 and Richard gives Peckham as place of birth, and Anna MAria gives Wiltshire West Lamington.

Following on from Liz's info on possible re-marriage of Richard Lee, there are 2 possible deaths of Ann Lee (his 1st wife) as follows:

Q2 1843 (4, 23) & Q3 1843 (4, 12) - both in Bermondsey.

Derek you're welcome.  It's thanks to others that I have got as far as I have with research and therefore it's nice to be able to help back.

If you have any further specific info that you want looking up drop me a line.

All the best with your research.
