Title: Swan Square Trevethin Parish
Post by: Janet Taylor on Wednesday 23 February 05 18:59 GMT (UK)
Does anyone know if Swan Square was in the area once known as Nightingale Village in the Parish of Trevethin (Pontypool) Monmouthshire?

Hi

This may not be any help, but...my great grandparents lived in Swan Square.  It was opposite High Street, next to the Baptist Church, in what is now Abersychan...I can vaguely remember it, but it was demolished late 60's early 70's.  I don't remember ever hearing Nightingale being referred to, but I will ask around (still got family in the area) and get back to you.

Regards

Julie ???

Thanks Julie for the reply to my query of Swan Square.

I have discovered that Nightingale Village was situated by the Forge Hammer Pub in Pontnewynydd Pontypool but came under the Trevethin Parish. My Ancestors lived in Llanover Row for the later part of 19c and early part of 20c.
