I am looking for Hanlon family members and descendants from Isabella Hanlon(nee Pyle) 1898-1976 and her husband John James Hanlon 1893 - 1968. Their children were John Thomas Hanlon 1920-1979, and others. Moderator Comment: names of possible living people removed to protect their privacy
If you are a descendant of any of the above I would love to hear from you to discuss family history.
Kind regards
Alyson

There are 6 Hanlons listed in the current direcorywith whitehaven codes, 1 at caldbeck and 1 in carlisle. If you go to www.bt.com/directory-enquiries/ds_home.jsp and put hanlon and whitehaven in the boxes you will find 4 of them and egremont and braystones might give you the rest. Then it's how brave you are. ;)

Hi Alyson123
just found this post on a google search whilst trying to find Isabella Hanlons daughter Isabella's birth details etc. Isabella Hanlon was my great grandmother. Her Daughter Mary was my Grandmother and Antoinette, Mary's Daughter is my mother. we have very limited details, just what we could pick up from Isabella and John James' headstone. in mirehouse cemetary.
i have just started building my family tree, my aunt has alot more details than i do at this point as she has been working a little longer than myself but i am happy to exchange any information that either of us does not have.
look forward to hearing from you

Dear Ryan,
Thankyou for resonding to my post..... it is quite funny really, you wait ages for a bus then two come along together!!
You see, just recently another decendant from Isabella contacted me and we have been sharing information
via 'ancestry'.
As I would like to discuss living family with you, I will continue by personal message.

Just realised Ryan that you are a new member, so need to make a couple of public
posts before you can use the private message facility of rootschat, alternatively of
course you can e-mail me personally, details of which are in my pm to you.

Hi Guys,
How do I get to the PM?
At the very top of the page (if you're logged in) it ought to say
"Welcome back, dimegold1, you have 1 messages, 1 are new."
or words to that effect ... you can click on it to get to your PMs. :)

Hi Geoff-E,
Thank you so much.

Do you know if there is a family connection with the celebrated John Hanlon, EM who was the Whitehaven Miners Agent at the time of the 1910 Wellington Pit disaster? This John Hanlon died at the relatively early age of 46 in 1918.
If so, it should be relatively easy to trace distant relatives (deceased and living). I think a daughter of this John Hanlon, EM was Assistant Librarian at Whitehaven Library to Daniel Hay for some years. She ran the place for a time while Daniel Hay was away for a time.
Links to living relatives appear to be rather beyond the scope of this forum. But perhaps you can piece it together some other way.
The above Hanlons were a Catholic family (although I think one of John Hanlon's sons went out to fight with the International Brigade in Spain). You could try and get information on your own (deceased) forebears at St Begh's parish.

Jos,
Thankyou so much for your reply, but the John Hanlon of
the Wellington Pit disaster is not the John Hanlon that
pertains to my original enquiry.
Also my interest in the family was to hopefully provide leads
to Isabella Pyle / Hanlon who was a direct relation, whereas John Hanlon was not. I was hoping that their offspring would help me in gaining more understanding of Isabella's life. I hope this makes sense! ...... a complicated story!
Thankyou once again for your interest.

Hi Guys,
My wife was born Rosemary * in Quarry Maternity Home Lincolnshire in *, she was adopted at six weeks old, Isabella * is her mother, and Rosi has been trying to find her since she was 21.
The only member of the family who was in contact with Isabella, was your wife's Uncle Jimmy who died in 2003; he forwarded a letter to Isabella written by Rosi in 1998, and Isabella refused to acknowledge her daughter, and Uncle Jimmy cut Rosi off even changing his telephone number.
Kindest Regards,

... in Quarry Maternity Home Lincolnshire ...
There has been a thread on "the Quarry" on a Lincs board http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,394356.0.html :)
