Two John James Mitchell's snr and jnr born 1801 and 1828, respectively and any children where relevant. John snr married Mary Streetley in 1827, John jnr was born Bexley at least, as was the rest of John snrs 4 children, (4 at last count). There are two 'James' (snrs) in 1861 census that I am aware of who may or may not be the elder Mitchell I am looking for. Another member of this family would be William Mitchell born 1830 and married to Jane Eades, his eldest son was William John James Mitchell, born 1857, Sheerness.
Many Thanks

I think I may have found them for you but having possibly sorted it out have other thiings to do right now so if somebody can post all the details that would be great. If not, I will do it later.
Edward BOAST marries Mary (A) E MITCHELL (the mother) in Bexley 1850s. They are in Bexley 1861 and 1871. They are also shown as married 1851 - can't recall where they were now but there is a daughter Lydia MITCHELL aged about 7 born Woolwich - she's with them in 1861 and later marries a Henry FISHER (IGI). Also a possible 1841 ie. Mary(the mother) MITCHELL including dau Mary aged 8 or 9 and son James aged 3 in the Woolwich area.

Thank you Carol and Casalguidi so much for this. I was wondering where Mary disappeared to and it hadn't occured to me that she had re-married as I hadnt got as far as finding a death for John, assuming he was one found on an 1861 census, but I am convinced this is her. I'll get a copy of that 1856 recorded marriage of Edward Boast to re-confirm. It should have her status as widow and give her previous married name.
Thank you also for the information regarding William and the ship he was on in the 1861 census.
Grateful thanks

Hi Debbie
I'm not sure if you know but Bexley Local Studies may be able to help with a copy of the marriage from the church registers http://www.bexley.gov.uk/localstudies/researchservice.html (29 Dec 1856 Bexley)

Thank you so very much Casalguidi. I live in Lincoln but if I can get my husband to agree to a trip there during the week some time I shall pop in as many of my family appear to come from around the Bexley area. In the meantime I shall give them a call for a request for copies of various particular marriages that I want. (Mary Mitchell's maiden name was Howell and there are many Howells in Bexley.)
Best wishes
Debbie
