Hi there Lisa, While searching for information on my family tree I noticed that you had the name Robins from Guernsey.
Well i'm Matt Robins from Guernsey.
What information do you have on the Robins's from Guernsey ?
Also can I help you with any information about the Robins family ?
Many thanks.
Take Care.
Matt Robins.

Hi Matt,
The link to the Guernsey Robin's is through my Great x 2 Grandmother Susan Robins b. 1854 Bridport, Dorset
Her Robins line is as follows;
William Robins - b. 1832 Guernsey - married Sarah Jarman
Thomas Robins - b. 1801 Guensey - married Marthe Le Prevost
Pierre Robins - b.1747 Guernsey - married Elizabeth Cohu
Jean Robins - b.1709 Guernsey - married Marie Cohu
Jean Robins - b. 1681 Guernsey - Jeanette LaPage Mahy
In some records, it's Robin or Robins.
Do any of these tie in with your tree at all ?
Regards
Lisa

Hi there Lisa, Thanks for getting back to me.
Nothing jumps out at me from those names that you mentioned but I do still have a bit to research yet.
My family came from Chieselborough Somerset a JOSEPH ROBINS born ABT 1791 in Chiselborough Somerset and Married a Mary Langdon born ABT 1785.
The generations first came to ALDERNEY. CHANNEL ISLANDS then onto GUERNSEY.
One of josephs sons ISAAC ROBINS Married an EMMA BARGERY
AND ONE OF THEIR SONS, ISAAC ROBINS Married a EUPHROSINE MELVINA CELESTINE FLAMBARD AKA ROSE FLAMBARD.
Then one of their sons was HENRY CHARLES ROBINS who Married a Clara Louisa Foss.
Then one of their sons was ALFRED ISAAC ROBINS who Married an ALICIA EDITH DOREY.
Then one of their sons is a DAVID MICHAEL ROBINS who Married a MARGARET ANN TRUFFITT.
And their eldest son is me.
Is there anything there that rings a bell with your research. ?
Take care all the very best.
Matt Robins.

Hi Lisa
I believe that the Susan Robins that you refer to is my Great Grandmother.
She married a George Vincent in Shropshire in 1875 and they had 12 children of which the eldest William Vincent was my Grandfather. He married Mary Dominy in Cerne Abbas Dorset in 1903 and my Father Leslie John Vincent was born in 1906.
If this is the correct person get in touch

Hi Lisa, just wanted to let you know that throughout my researching my LeGallee and LeVallee families, I have come across most if not all of the names you have mentioned. My GGGrandmother was Rachel LeVallee b Alderney abt 1806, she emigrated to Quebec, Canada and married Thomas LeGallee. I don't have alot of info about him but when he passed away she remarried a Jean Lenfestey. All of the surnames I have mentioned are Island names, seemed they liked to marry amongst themselves. FYI, Abraham Lenfest(e)y married Thomasse Brehaut in 1668, Guernsey.
You can find lots of info about the families that emigrated to Canada in the Drouin Collection.
good luck!!

I have Susanne Elizabeth Brehaut DOB:1861, married to Jacob Sargent Shorto DOB:1857. Both were born in the Channel Islands.
Trying to locate more info, on both.
Thanks for any help,
Diane

Hi Lisa
I just found this site. I reckon we are related - all the people you mention are my ancestors too.
My maiden name is Robin (we never used the 's' in our family) and I can trace my family back to Jean Robin 1681 and perhaps earlier.
I have a copy of the Robin Family Tree and all its branches for the Guernsey clan.
I have been meaning to get down to sorting out a box full of papers from research I did many years ago. I was lucky enough to meet an old gentleman in his 90's who told me a great deal about the Robin family.
My father, grandfather and great grandfather were all Eugene.
My great grandmother was a Mauger and I have information about them as well.

Hi Maggie
As you can see from this thread I am also related to the Robins family but do not know much about them. My grandfather William Vincent lived with his grandparents William & Sarah Robins in Bridport Dorset as a child as can be seen from the 1881 census, his parents George & Susan lived in Bridgenorth Shropshire but originated from Dorset.

Hi Matt
I think Henry Charles Robins and Clara Louise Foss were my Great Grandparents. I remember my Papa George talking about a Clara Louisa. Can you confirm whether they had a son George Stanley Eric Robins? Both my grandparents and mother are deceased so I don't know much about the Robins side of my family.
Have you any idea why the Robins family came to Guernsey? I wonder if it was to do with the sugar factory...
Thanks
Sas

Hi, thanks to all of you for the replies, and apologies that i haven't responded sooner
Len, i'm not sure if we've been in touch before but my Great Grandmother was Rachel Rose Vincent. That would make her your Great Aunt wouldn't it ? If so, i think that would make you my second Cousin once removed :)
If you could send me a pm with your email address, it would be lovely to hear from you.
Maggie, it would be fab to see your tree and how we are connected, please get in touch.
Thanks
Lisa

Sorry everyone - I am not very good at watching this site.
I will - at some point - attempt to scan in the family tree of the Robin family from Guernsey. It is very big and I will have to find a way of either reducing it, which may make it difficult to read, or to scan it in sections. If I could find the time - ! I could type it in, in a form that is readable. That is my plan.
I can tell you that there are several branches of the Robin family: some come from the Provence area of France and another from Brittany & Normandy. My guess is that the Robin family in Guernsey came from the latter. Whether they moved there for the sugar, which I have not heard about, or another reason, I don't know.

hello
I'm not sure if I am connected to all of you but I do have a connection with Matt Robins who posted earlier.
Threw my 3 x grandparents Isaac Robins b 1821-26 married Emma Rosey Bargery b 1836 ( also you could be right of why the family came to the Island as she worked at the Sugar factory )
their daughter Amelia b abt 1855 (your Issac sister) married James Molloy b 1852
would love to share with you what I have found.
Also Maggie I to would like to see your Robins family tree if you think there is a connection and my grandmother was a Mauger her father was Edward Le Pelley Mauger any connection ?
looking forward to hearing from you

Hi Chris, Len has given me your email so i'll be in touch soon about the family tree in general :)
Re Pierre, i haven't used China as a place of death until i have found something concrete to back it up.
There seems to have been a lot of copying of trees on Ancestry so i'm assuming one person put China then others have copied it and it's gone from there.

Hi Lisa,
I've not been on this website before, but thought I'd register to say that Jane Victoria Le Prevost (1864 - 1949) is my great great grandmother. She married Colour Sergeant Robert Campbell McNeill of the 29th Worcestershire Regiment on 18th April 1885. They then moved from Guernsey to Norton Juxta Kempsey, Worcestershire. Jane died in 1949 in Liverpool, and Robert died in 1904. They had nine children:
Jane Victoria McNeill 1886 – 1976
Robert John McNeill 1888 – ?
Florence Mary McNeill 1889 – ?
Margaret Alice McNeill 1890 – 1978
Thomas McNeill 1892 – ?
Elizabeth May McNeill 1894 – 1974
John McNeill 1897 – 1930
Hugh Campbell McNeill 1899 – 1918
Rodrick McNeill 1902 - 1925
Margaret Alice McNeill (in bold) is my great grandmother. She married my great grandfather Frank Smith, (1887 - 1951), and they had one child, a son named Robert Arthur Smith (1916 - 1995), who is my paternal grandfather.
You will find Jane Victoria Le Prevost and Robert Campbell McNeill under 'Generation 10' on this website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~egreef/leprevost.htm
Hope this helps.
Russell Smith.
p.s. I also have an ancestry.co.uk account, and I can give you access to my family tree if you like. It might help you with your research, as the work I have done on the Le Prevost side of the tree is considerable.

Hi, I have been given a name which my family is allegedly connected to which is "le prevot" or "le prevost" which hails from the channel isles. The branch of my family it relates to is "stephens" who were in the marytavy area of devon in the 1700's to late 1800's. If anyone has any information about this connection i'd be very grateful.

HI Matt & Lisa
