I wonder if anyone could look up the birth of John Crowe born circa 1826 - he married Martha who's surname I am trying to find his birth in Wyboston or Eaton Socon and his marriage to Martha who was born in Roxton, Beds
Any help on this family would be appreciated
Thanks

Hello Gill
He could be the John Crowe baptised at Eaton Socon on 15 June 1828 to parents William & Ann (as per the IGI). The ESCAN website says their abode was Dulow (Duloe)
They baptised other children under name of Crow including Sophia on 7 Jul 1833. The family appear on 1841 census transcribed as CRAW. Similaly mistranscribed in 1851, John is grandson to Richard born 1779 Eaton Socon.
Whilst in 1851 John is born Eaton Socon & wife Martha born Roxton; in later 1861 & 1871 censuses he is born Wyboston & she in Chawston.

Hello John
Yes I'm sure that's the family - thank you so much
Could you tell me if there was any reference to Martha's maiden name -
I'm very grateful to you for taking time to help me - you're wonderful!!
Thank You

The parish website is great - I've just looked there.
They have a famous 'son' - one of Russell Crowes ancestors came from there !!
Thank you very much

Gill; Also noticed in 1841 a Richard & Mary CRAW, in same household is Jane aged 10. Could she be his niece describing the 19 year old Jane on the 1851 census.
Now we need to find a William (who married Ann), who is son of Richard.
Also noticed from the ESCAN site, that on 7 Jul 1833 the date Sophia was baptised, a baptism of Charles, son of John & Judith, living in Stapelow, so I assuming that William & Ann are related to John & Judith.
well, stone the crows !
cheers John

Gill, .... it may be across the border into Hunts,
I noticed on 1851 they have 2 year old daughter Emma born Alconbury, Hunts - why she's not with them in 1861 ?
... & on 1861 they have 12 year old son John again born Alconbury.
Anyway failing that; you could always get the birth certicates for children with the family in 1861, & that should give the mother's maiden name & then we can check her out.
