Just wondering if someone can help me too with a 1922 look Up please. I have finally located the wife of my Great Uncle and she immigrated from London, England in 1922 to Brisbane, Australia. her name was Emily Rosina Heather and comes up as Emily Heather born 1898. If anyone has access to this sort of thing would be interested in name of ship and anything else available. She appears to have travelled on her own as I couldnt find any other persons by the surname of Heather that year.
I live in NSW and everywhere I try on line to look for Qld entries you seem to hve to actually go to State Archives Office which is impossible for me, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Wendy,

Cheers Kris :)

Was HEATHER , Emilys' maiden name?.

Oh girls, you have been a great help. Yes, this is her. I know HEATHER is a strange surname to have but yes it is Emily's surname. The address given as her last address before embarking on the trip fits perfect too as North Shields was the location I had from 1901 UK Census. This is just so wonderful of both of you to find her for me. Has brought her alive so to speak for me now.
I am trying to open our national archives file to find that entry Leanne you mentioned and I have been able to find the Ship you think was hers but only since 1930's not 1922. Dont know what I am doing wrong in finding it.
Anyway, just to have the ship name and dates of sailing are great.
I am slowly piecing her family together now (siblings in UK from census - at least location of residence and ages)
Pity I wasn't having more luck on this end in Australia with my G-Uncle - her hubby - but I am just pleased to have anything at all on this group of the family.
Many thanks for your help confirming her coming here to Australia. Just brilliant
Kind regards
Wendy

Sorry Leanne - Forgot to mention in prior email in answer to you
Yes HEATHER was Emily Rosina's Maiden name. She married John Augustine DWYER on 24/12/1924
in the state of Queensland, Australia registration ID (1925/000268) - perhaps Brisbane
I think they may have had a son called John Augustine Dwyer too by about 1932 in Queensland Australia, but not sure it is a family match but going by the name would nearly have to be

when I opened the search box on NAA I put "Euripides" in the search box and directly beneath it I put 1922 in the date box.
You are probably not doing anything wrong.
Emily is on page 118.
The marriage registration reference is prefixed with a "C" which indicates a marriage outside the Brisbane area.

there are 2 entries on:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nswsdps/dpsindex.htm
for a John Augustin DWYER, Deceased 2005, with an age of 73 which = a birth year of approx. 1932
on the home page of the website you can go to the left hand side and there is an icon for requesting a look-up, open that and follow the instructions.
May not be yours but it is worth a try.

further perusal of the Ryerson index brings up an entry for an Emily Rosina DWYER, deceased 1989 at Bankstown, NSW.

Thanks Leanne - finally got the page re ship open - I was doing a passenger search instead of just from the general search page. It seems she may have been Salvation Army from what they have noted her under and now from what you said not being married in Brisbane leads me to believe she may have gone to Darling Downs area as that is where G-Uncle was at that stage on farms.
That entry for Emily Rosina Dwyer d1961 could very well be their daughter and worth looking into.
You are being such a great help with this. I am a novice really and just stumble onto things that lead me to positives so you help in direction is greatly appreciated

Electoral roll information
1925 Qld, Division of Kennedy, subdivision Cloncurry
John Augustin DWYER, Strathfield Station, stockman
Emily DWYER, Mackinlay, home duties
1930 Qld, Division of Kennedy, subdivision Cloncurry
John Augustin DWYER, Eddington Station, stockman
No mention of an Emily DWYER in this subdivision
No John Augustin DWYER in 1936 (which is the extenet of my access) and too many John DWYERs to know if any are him.
Cheers, Judith

You have truly been amazing at finding leads. I will certainly send look up request via Ryerson Index. Cant believe how much in such a short time with everyones help
Makes me hopeful of finding living descendants sometime
Having the property names that John worked on is great in that it now allows me to track on a map his movements.
Like another challenge girls - his other brother Thomas Clement Dwyer
He was on 1922 & 1934 Electoral Rolls a lady gave me but if you girls have other years he might be on them too.
1922Corinda Winton QLD Station Hand
1934 Queen St, Crows Nest QLD Mechanic
His wife was Ivy Gladys & have her both years
He died 14/11/1940 & buried Mitchell General Cemetery,
Funny thing is John Augustine died 21/1/1942 but haven't been able to find where buried - mystery it seems.
These brothers seemed fairly close even in dying 2 years apart
Just thought 1925 & 1930 there might be something for Thomas in the Electoral Rolls too
These boys seemed to work in that region since early 1920's
From what you have given me on Emily Heather I have been able to go back and find more on her siblings now.
Just wonderful
THANKS AGAIN

Dearly loved husband of Pat, father and father-in-law of Robyn and Ray, Karen and Neil, Dianne and david and Teresa and Mark. This Emily Rosina has DWYER as her married name (presumably) so it looks as hthough she is the sister-in-law of this John Augustin, but she has the family forenames that would indicate a connection with the DWYER family when she was born - perhaps a cousin?
(Just a note- it is isn't my mistake - Emily's death notice does say she was the husband of Bill)

1922 Electoral Roll (Kennedy - Winton)
John Auguston DWYER Corinda Station Overseer (with Thomas)
1934 Electoral Roll (Kennedy - Richmond)
Emily Rosana DWYER Burke St Julia Creek Home Duties
John Augusta DWYER Burke St Julia Creek Lab
Like Judith, Sorry, I can't spot them in 1936. Looking at these entries one would expect them to be around the Kennedy District :-\
1949 Electoral Roll
Emily Rosana DWYER Crawford St Richmond Homeduties (Kennedy - Richmond)
Emily Rosana DWYER 28 Little Edward St City Brisbane Homeduties (Brisbane - Paddington)
Thomas and Ivy in 1936 ditto 1934 you have
Cheers Kris :)

I see Thomas Clement DWYER on the 1936 Electoral roll, Darling Downs at Queen St, Crow's Nest listed as a mechanic. Ivy Gladys, home duties at the same address.
This is the only one using the two forenames unfortunately. There are so many other Thomas Dwyers that it is a bit hard to sort them out! (Includes my own father who was also a Thomas Dwyer - but in Victoria!)
Cheers, Judith

Judith, another of the brothers in this family line ended up in Victoria - he was Leo Stanislaus Dwyer and I found his descendant line and living relatives by accident too.
Nice to have another Dwyer family line helping, even if not my connection
I cant thank everyone enough for their help in the last 24 hrs
