Grand father Samuel Jones was apparently born in North Wall Dublin 18th June, 1864. On flimsy evidence I believe his parents were William Jones, (a.k.a. Jack.) Mother possibly Mary Persse. Both born approximately 1830, however Mary died in child birth, having Samuel, in 1864. Samuel had brothers; Jack and Robert.
If I can get confirmation on Samuel's parents names I will be much advanced in my search.
Incidentally, Samuel's father was a groom, and died within weeks of Samuel's birth from pneumonia, brought on by trying to rescue horses in a flood. A tragic time for the three boys. Apparently they were raised by an aunt on their mother's side, and later came to Australia....Hope you can help. Thanks in advance!

Hi Wendy if you take a look at www.mcb.wa.gov.au which is the cemetery board for part of WA, you may find some info. (Search by name)
As you probably know aussie death certs give info on place of birth, etc

Hi Shirl.
thanks for the advice. I did as you suggested, and it lead to all sorts of information that has increased my knowledge of the family a lot. It's nice to get advice from another West Aussie. I'm from Geraldton.
Good luck with your research.
Wendy.

Hi,
Did you check the birth and death indexes available at your local family history centre? Bear in mind that birth registration had only start in 1864 so there was a level of non-compliance. You may have a better chance looking for younger siblings.
The IGI database has births 1864-66 but they only show up Samuel Jones in Queenstown, Cork 1863 (Robert and Bridget Quinn) Cromac, Antrim 1865 (Richard and Charlotte Chancellor) and Dromore, Co Down 1865 (Samuel and Maria Cummins) so perhaps he was one of the non-compliers.

Hello Kate & all, thanks for advice but, SAMUEL JONES's mother died giving birth to him, and his father WILLIAM died shortly afterwords. OLDER siblings: Robert & Jack JONES.
Information obtained from Marriage Certificate dated July 1898 in Fremantle Western Australia. Likely Samuel's knowledge of his origins inaccurate?
Anyone willing to check both births and deaths June 18th 1864 for Dublin? Mother: MARY nee PERSSE, son: SAMUEL JONES. Then within months, Father: WILLIAM JONES died, same city.
HELP! In need accurate information. Wendy in Western Australia.

Wendy,
Do you have a family history centre (church of the latter day saints) you can get to? They have the death indexes too from 1864.

hi Wendy. I do not know if you are still monitoring this site
I was looking for details of your relative Ewart Jones (Jimmy) and after a lot google found you.
WE ARE RELATED! Your great grandmother (Sarah Jane) was my great grandmother's sister (Ann).
I hope you are still alive and it would be nice to speak. I feel we must have met in our early years.
Regards

Thanks for advising me that you may have some idea about where Wendy is at. I don't even know if I am doing this right. If Wendy can speak to me it would be wonderful because I am aware that if she is alive she is definitely not a teenager. Once again, thank you
