Hi Sean,
I'm a descendant of Mary PERRIMAN. I have some intrigue around the Perriman and Shell/Shail family which may interest to you and it may be that together we might get a little closer to the truth.
Mary PERRIMAN/ PERRYMAN bn abt 1807? Marshfield to Jonathon and Elizabeth (SUMNER) had an illegitimate daughter abt 1823 called Mercy PERRIMAN. Mercy married Thomas GAY and noted her father as Henry PERRIMAN/PERRYMAN on the marriage cert. However, I have not been able to find Henry anywhere (IGI, BMDs Bristol Marriage and Baptisms) so wonder if it was a name plucked out of nowhere to appear legitimate, bearing in mind Mercy was a minor when she first married.
I noted her mother Mary went on to marry Lawrence SHELL/ SHAIL in 1825 and had children by him. (Bristol Marriage Record).
Mercy's husband Thomas died in 1863 and she remarried a Robert ANDREWS in 1865. I have not long ago received the cert to see who she noted this time, as her father. She had stated it was a John SHELL! Again, I can't find a John SHELL, but I wonder if being older and not so worried by convention the second time around, that she may have been nearer the truth.
I can send you more details on my line through Mary and Mercy PERRIMAN (and Mercy's first husband Thomas GAY) if you send me your email via a personal message. Would LOVE to get closer to the truth and any thoughts, suggestions and ideas from ANYONE, ANYWHERE would be MOST welcome
Cheers
Jo

Just an update. Not sure of mary Perriman's parentage. Have not really managed to establish with sufficient evidence for comfort. Some suggest a Perryman/ Dix line and am awaiting source info to see if it can be verified

Thanks Victor. Most kind. Could you check and or comment on the parentage of Mary Perriman, Mercy's mum. There seem to be 2 options
-
Hi Jo,
I have checked the Gloucestershire Archives (GA) parish records for St Mary, Marshfield and they do have a microfiche for baptisms, reference PFC 213 IN 1/6 1, 1781-1812.
I shall be in GA next week and will see what I can find.
Victor

That would be great Victor thank you. Just need help to determine the most likely parents
-
From all of the above...and more, I have been trying to determine dates and storyline for these events:-
RICHARD CAMERY first marriage to MARY NOWELL MARSHFIELD?
Then MARY, RICHARD'S wife dying probably in Marshfield?
Did the same RICHARD then remarry to ANN NOWELL in BOX, WILTSHIRE?
Were ANN and MARY sisters?
We then 'know' that young ANN CAMERY was born in BOX in 1831 ish to RICHARD and ANN
Any thoughts?
cheers

Hi Sean,
I could not possibility speculate about your family tree. With the sheer volume of RootsChatterers posts for Gloucestershire, I'm afraid that I can only do specific lookups. It would also be appreciated if you posted your requests on the Gloucestershire board as an individual lookup, rather than piggyback on another RootsChatterers post. It is most confusing! I don't wish to upset you.
Perhaps you should look at Chas' post offering Marshfield data.

That's ok Victor...I'm long past getting upset by things :) I'm just happy to be still learning.....and by the way I started this post in 2009.
cheers

Hi Jo,
I have checked the Marshfield baptism records, 1794-1805, for Mary PERRIMAN, but there is NO record.
Victor
-
Thanks for that Victor. Think I have sorted the parents now thanks to everyone. Dates and ages correspond for Mary's parents being Thomas and Ann (Dix) Perriman who were in Keynsham at that time
-
Hi All,
I was trawling through the Marshfield PRs for a fellow RootsChatterer, and after seeing a number of CAMERY entries, decided to transcribe them, and here they are.

Thank you

Hello again Victor
Have just been reading through all the info you have supplied and most of it is very relevant to what we were trying to establish...will have fun now trying to slot dates, names and places into what we already know. Interesting to see the spelling of COMMERY...that's the first time I have come across that one....and Richard and Ann is extremely relevant to our tree.
thanks again
