I am researching a Mary Ann (Polly) Pye (later Mary Ann Beecham) who, in the 1901 census. has Chorwell, Yorks. as her place of birth. Chorwell isn't in the Phillimore Atlas of Parishes. Does anyone know where it is , please ? Rosecott

Hi
When was she born? Knowing the registration district - which you can find on freebmd - will narrow it down. It may be a hamlet without a church so not in Phillimore.

Just a thought, could it be Churwell (Leeds).
Famous for Churwell Hill.

I was thinking Churwell, near Morley as well.
