Hello,
Im looking for any info on George & Martha Kipling, who married in Nottingham in1864, I found them on 1881 census & their children all say born in Sheffield. Would like to find them on 1871 & 1891,1901 census. Also any bpt of their children or when Martha & George died. Martha was born abt 1844 in Newark, Nottingham & George says on 1881 he was born Caxton, Notts abt 1837.
Children on 1881 census - Henry 1866, Annie 1870, George 1872 & William 1874 all born Sheffield. George is a Cab Driver on 1881 census & they are living at 1 Newton Square, CL4, Sheffield.
Hope someone can help

Although the census that MaryA has given you shows George Kipling as married, there is a death in 1887 in Sheffield of a Martha Kipling aged 46. This appears to be the eldest son Henry.

Assuming that the marriage you have is Q2 1864 George Kipling to Martha Watson Trickett, do you have the birth certificate of any of the older children to confirm it?
The middle name is actually Walston when you look at the image.

Thanks both for the help,
I know I have the right marriage, Martha was born before her mother Mary Trickett married Thomas Walstow(e) in 1845, She was known as Walstow on the census, but obviously for her marriage to George Kipling in 1864 she has both names. I have a trascription off a lady that helped me with Nottingham BMDs before & it is Martha Walstow Trickett on the Transcription as well.
Thanks again

There are quite a few other KIPLINGs in other graves who might be related.
If you post a query on the message board of that site (no subscription necessary) Tony may be able to tell you if there is a gravestone on this grave.

Hello,
I have been researching the Kiplings for some time. The Nottingham Kiplings have been shown by DNA testing to be a branch of the original Kipling familiy form Romaldkirk in Teesdale (where they date back to the 14th century). Please refer to my website, genealogy.kipling.me.uk and especially the DNA Newsletter.
