Anyone researching the descendants/family of Thomas Jackson BENNETT. He was born in Dublin in 1839, came to NZ with his parents John Boyle BENNETT and Horatia nee CARLISLE.
He married first in 1865, Jane SCOTT, daughter of Thomas SCOTT of Scotts Ferry at the Rangitikei River mouth. She died in 1866, no children.
TJB married secondly in 1871 Eliza (Raiha Rangikawhiti) ROGERS, born 1855 Rotorua. One of their sons was Frederick Augustus BENNETT first Maori Bishop of Aotearoa.

Hi Ian
My mother Vivien passed on a message regarding info on Thomas Jackson Bennett. Sorry for the delay, I get sidetracked with different family lines. I do have info on TJB to his siblings, parents and grandparents. Let me know how I can help. Thanks

I have since found that TJB and Jane did have a child, Jane. Sadly she died also only a few months old.
Will PM you to give you my email.

Hi Ian
I didn't know TJB had another wife, I only have Raiha Rangikawhiti Rogers as being married to him in 18 feb 1871. What does PM mean?

PM is personal message. I did send you one to give you my email address as you are not supposed to post it in the forum.
Yes TJB was married first to Jane SCOTT, daughter of Thomas SCOTT of Scott's Ferry at the mouth of the Rangitikei River, 28 Dec 1865. She died on 26 Oct 1866 at Lower Hutt, having given birth to a daughter Jane BENNETT, on 21 Oct 1866 also at Lower Hutt. The daughter was taken to be looked after by Jane's sister Annie HIGGIE at Wanganui, but she too died on 31 Mar 1867.
