Hello All,
I hope someone can be of assistance, I've just discovered that my Gt G-dad was born in Chirton, in the county of Northumberland. Unfortunately I'm unsure where to look for his baptism.
I have got his birth certificate which states;
James Hamer Walmsley, b21 July 1874 at Prudhoe Street, Chirton, Father Lawrence Walmsley, Mother Sally Walmsley, Occupation of Father School Master, Birth registered 29 August 1874.
if anyone could give me any clues as to which church or churches he may have been baptized at I'd appreciate it.
Many Thanks
Nigel

Nigel,
There is some information about Tynemouth Churches here
http://www.genuki.bpears.org.uk/NBL/Tynemouth/ChurchHistory.html
And also about Non-conformist churches http://www.genuki.bpears.org.uk/NBL/Tynemouth/tynnconf.html
What information do you hope to gain from the baptism record?

Hi Nigel,
Is the reason you want the baptism to find Sallys maiden name?
1891 Census has James Hamer Walmsley born Mortlfields NBL ???
Lawrence Smallbridge, Lancs and Sally Wardle, Lancs .

They appear to have had only 1 child James

If Nigel has the civil birth certificate, then Sally's maiden name should be recorded on it .
