does anyone know anything of a Sidney Coulson (Seaman) he was born in Sunderland in 1907. I have just recieved some documents which may be of some sentimental value to his family, lots of steamship discharge papers, photo's etc. Any help in tracing this guys family would be fantastic.
Thanks Brian

Hi Brian,
A search of the 1911 census index shows only one Sidney Coulson born Sunderland, but he is Sidney Frederick, aged 3, wonder if any of your papers show his middle name - his birth reg is Dec Qu 1907 Sunderland
There's a family in 1901, father Thomas, mother Hannah, and according to the 1911 index they have Sidney in their household, so it's possibly his family:
1901 census: RG13 Piece 4722 Folio 89
79 Brandling St, Roker, Sunderland, Durham
COULSON
Thomas head m 36 Bricklayer's Labourer Sunderland
Hannah wife m 32 Northumberland Newcastle on Tyne
Charles son 11 Durham Washington
Thomas " 4 months " Sunderland

yes it is him, I have his apprentice papers off when he qualified with his father Thomas on too. I only hope someone reads this who knows his family now. A long shot I know but its worth a try.
Thanks for your help

why don't you try contacting the Northumberland & Durham FHS who hold a list of people researching certain names. might be someone looking into this family.

Hi. As luck would have it, I am trying to find our about my father's side of the family and his uncle is the Sidney Coulson you are referring to. I would appreciate it if you are able to scan and email me the documents? I am in Cape Town, so post is a bit tough!
Thanks.
