Hi
Would it be possibe if any one is at the records office and has time, could you please look up the marriage of John Kelly and Ann McDermott 6 October 1839 at Manchester Cathedral, any information from the record would be very much appreciated.

Hi,
I was also looking for a record from Manchester Cathederal. If not too much bother maybe somebody may be able to look up a marriage in 1811 too??
The marriage is of Charles Brown to Ann Shelmerdine Jan 27 1811. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Jon.

Dotty,
Thank you kindly for your time. It looks like this could be the end of the line so to speak?? Would you or any of the other experienced persons involved in this forum have any other ideas to trace the family beyond this point?
Is it true the early 1800's census are no longer available?
You help is much appreciated.
Regards
Jon

Hi Jon,
Luckily you have an unusual surname for Ann;
There is this possible baptism on the IGI;
Ann SHELMERDINE
26 November 1786
Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire
Parents, James Shelmerdine and Charlott
If this is her it would make her 25 at marriage so seems a possibily to me ;D
Sibling ( from same batch)
James SHELMERDINE
02 November 1788, details as above
I cant find a marriage for James and Charlott +/- 10 yrs in Lancashire but they may have married elsewhere.
Do you have Charles and Ann Brown on any census records as sometimes going forward can help us with taking you back ;)

Hi Jon,
OK, I may be wrong with this, as there is a Tree on Ancestry that has Ann ( parents John and Mary Burroughs) marrying Charles Brown 1811 and the Shelmerdine family going back several generations ;D
Do you have access to Ancestry or would you like me to contact Tree owner for you?
Cheers,
Trish

Trish,
I don't have access to Ancestry, if you wouldn't mind contacting the tree owner it would be much appreciated. You never know????
As I share the Brown surname, I have spent most of my time so far on the Brown name, and not really concentrated on other names thus yet.
Charles and Ann have not featured in any census info in which I have seen.
The next information I have after their 1811 marriage is the wedding of their son - Charles Brown(e) (minor), of Bridge St Warrington, Son of Charles Brown(e) dyer, at St Pauls Church, Warrington.
Maybe I could use this info to work backwards??
Thanks for your help,
Jon.
