I have only just discovered that my father had a brother - Harold Pritchard born 1st March 1907 in Liverpool. Through Ancestry.co.uk I can see there is a death of a Harold Pritchard who had the same birthday and died in April 1990 in Hastings and Rother, East Sussex. Just thought I would put a post on here as a longshot that someone might have known him?
Any connection would be much appreciated as Harold has come as a great surprise. His parents were Achason [Archie] and Laura Pritchard. Siblings May and Clifford.
Many thanks.

Hi
I have sent you a pm with some possible info re: a marriage for Harold and 2 possible children b 1931 and 1933
I can't post details on here in case they are still alive

I now have obtained the death certificate of Harold and it is definitely the correct Harold - born in Liverpool. Died in Bexhill on Sea on 10th April 1990. His wife was Maud Muriel Pritchard. So maybe someone might have known her? Harold was a Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy.

Hi
Death entry shows her as Muriel Maud b 10.9.1902 and death reg in Feb 1995 Hastings and Rother district 4561B entry 87
We haven't a clue whether she was born in Sussex (particularly as hubby was in the RN she could have been from anywhere) but freebmd has a lot of Muriel Maud entries in the Sept/Dec quarters of 1902 but only one in Sussex
Births Sep 1902
Muriel Maud Brown Steyning 2b 294
There is no entry for Sussex for a Maud Muriel

I intend to order Muriel's death certificate which should give me her maiden name and maybe an idea if they had children - hopefully if they did one of them will have registered her death.
All very intriguing as other branches of the Pritchards I have now spoken to had NO idea that Harold even existed. Then when he came to light in the 1911 Census, people assumed he must have died in childhood!! I just wonder who else might pop up in the future that I had no idea about!!

Get someone with copies of Hatings/Bexhill street directories to have a look for some addresses for you and ask the local library there if they have any copies of mid 20th century lists of voters.
Freebmd also lists some Hastings Pritchard births (1927-1929) with mother's maiden surname as Stephens and Morgam.
By the way, a you also on the Genes website, for there are two people there that also share an interest in your Liverpudlian Harold/Harry from 1907-1908.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have progressed quite a bit. I have got Muriel's death certificate today- her maiden name was Thorburn - born in Liverpool. Her death was registered by a son - Brian John Pritchard. So I can now move on with this info. I have contacted Bexhill Library and they are on the case to find the death notices as they have an Obituary Index of notices in their local paper. Can see how I am going to spend the weekend now with this new info. I have been e-mailing people via Genes Reunited but no responses!! Many thanks again Roy.
