CAN ANYONE TELL IF I CAN GET INFORMATION ON DIVORCE OR SEPARATION IN THE NOTTINGHAM AREA IN THE 1940s.
I LIVE IN CANADA AND INFORMATION IS VERY LIMITED FOR ME.

According to the Public Record Office, copies of decrees nisi and absolute can be obtained - for a fee, but it looks as though the actual case files for the time you are interested in may have been destroyed.

Another alternative may be local newspapers, which sometimes reported divorce actions.

I have recently sent for decree abolute papers dated 1945 for Nottinghamshire
If you don't know the date they do a 10 year search for you. It cost me £40
