I'm having a problem finding the birth date of George Hill and his father. I have his baptism date of 30 Jun 1850 at Wickham Market with only his mother Elizabeth Hill (nee Finch) recorded. (No father)
Charles Hill born 8 Apr 1810 married Elizabeth (Finch) in Offord on 26 Mar 1832. They had four children TOGETHER - Eliza 27/7/1832, Fanny 10/4/1834, Harriet 1836 & Anna 1837.
I have obtained from Woodbridge a death certificate for Charles Hill showing he died on 12 Apr 1838 at Dallinghoo and his wife was Elizabeth.
The 1841 census records show Elizabeth Hill as a pauper
The 1851 census records show Elizabeth Hill as a widow, and George Hill (her son) as being 8 years old.
Can anyone suggest where I can look to find the birth of George Hill.
Thank you

Have you investigated these Birth Index entries from FreeBMD ?
The first one seems too early .... but worth checking
I'd think that the 3rd one was a duplicate of the second one ..... but the transcriber wasnt as adept as the person who researched the second one.
These are still handwritten, so would make a good addition to your records if relevant ?

Thank you LKL.
1851/1852 is too late. George Hill was most certainly born around 1840/1842, but there is nothing on the BMD. Nor did Woodbridge Registry Office (who found the death of Charles) have any record of the birth. The RO Ipswich suggested I try the Barstardy references and I did, but still could find nothing from the limited time I had.
The next suggestion was to check if the parents were recorded for George Hill when he married, but I ran out to time and will not be back in UK until later in the year.
Hence my request of further ideas
