Hi,
I am finding some of this side of my family a little difficult to trace.
My gggrandmother Maria Connolly married my gggrandfather James Canavan 26 June 1886
I know she was living at 21 Baker St Belfast in the 1901 census with Thomas and her children
Thomas 19
James 12
Henry 6
Annie 2
I think is would be safe to assume that Thomas and Maria had other childrens given the age differences.
I had a grave search done, and I know she died 22 Nov 1931, aged 68, at this time she was living at 32 Baker St.
I don't know where she was in the 1911 census or what happened to her daughter Annie ... or where Henry went until the time of his death in 1938, or James.
I know when Thomas died he was my ggrandfather.
So now I have drawn a blank, any suggestions,
Thanks
Pat

Thank you for the replies.
I have already tried the census 1911 but cannot find them. Still do not know where they went.
This side of my family are like the Scarlett Pimpernell

Well, I can't find them in 1911 either- have even checked Baker St. person by person and nothing.
Perhaps the family moved out of Belfast around 1911 and then returned there. Only 4 counties online so far so they might turn up somewhere like Armagh eventually.
Re-reading the 1st post here again the dates strike me- James Canavan married 1884 Maria Connolly and had Thomas c1880, James c1889, Henry c1895, Annie c1899.
Could James Canavan have been married twice (Thomas from 1st marriage nd other children from 2nd)?
(Have done a bit more searching and see that you'd already been given the marriage details a while ago.)

Thanks aghadowey
I had wondered about the date of birth for Thomas...it threw me off track for a while because the dates did not seem to fit.
Now........ I wonder did James marry twice ???

The Lennon Wylie Street directory for both 1901 and1910 shows James Canavan living at 21, Baker Street.

There is a Thomas Canavan [Age 30] living at 8, Brook Street in the 1911 Census. Brook St. was just at the bottom of Baker Street. You don't say what your Granny Canavan's name was but this Thomas Canavan's wife was Margaret and they had 5 children. This may be worth looking at

Thanks Bardany.
I had checked out both the sites you mentioned before and I thank your for taking time out to reply to my query.
James in the st directory is my gggrandfather, his wife was Maria.
The Canavan's in Brook St hoh is my ggrandfather, and my grandfather Charles is shown as a young boy aged, 6 sadly he died when he was 41 so I never knew him.

The Thomas Canavan aged 30 living in Brook Street was my gg grandfather. His oldest son james, was my g grandfather. I think you have got families mixed up and i think that there was 2 canavan families living in that area at the time.

hi niamhcan
What no in Brook St did your gggrandfather live.?

Hi niamhcan
Will post pm

Hi, I think I may have a connection to this. My Grandfather is the James Canavan aged 6, in the 1911 census, living in 8 Brook Street, which makes Thomas Canavan my ggrandfather, his wife was Margaret. They had the children named in the census and also more after. My father is (John officially) Sean Canavan, son of James. My name is Nuala Canavan. It would be nice to hear if there is a connection. :)

Hi n-canavan
Yes we have a connection.
My grandfather Charles was James' brother. I sent you a private message (pm) last night, if you go to the top of the Rootschat page it will tell you that you have received a new message just click it.
