Hello My Great Aunt Elizabeth was born on 17 06 1876 in Limavady Ireland to Wm & Catherine McGill
she emigrated to Scotland on a date unknown, does anyone know of her family, or better still are related to her
I would love to hear from you

If she got married in Scotland, there are about 50 marriages at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk that could be hers. It would cost quite a bit to look through them all, but it's the only way I can think of to find her, with the info supplied.

Thanks OTTO I know what your saying It was just on the off chance that someone who reads this site
might just be related, the Scotland was just info by "word of mouth" Thanks
I am making some headway on the rest of the McGills

From SP:
There are 18 Elizabeth McGills aged 10-20 on the 1891 census for the whole of Scotland.
There are 12 Elizabeth McGills aged 20-30 on the 1901 census for the whole of Scotland (providing she hadn't married by then).
Still quite few, but not too bad if you ever do decide to try and trace her.

Did she come alone or with the family?

Hello KirstyG And Sancti I believe she went to Scotland on her own, unfortunately more background work is needed on my part to find when she went, when she got married, if she ever did that is,
thank you both for your input I will try to get more substantive information and come back
Regards (If you ever need any lookups at my end (N Ireland Ireland) please let me know.

Thanks Lynn as far as know she went to Scotland on her own, I do feel silly as I should have done a bit more research before I posted the thread

hi just seen your message . have looked up the name with dates on l.d.s website and found elizabeths birth . the only one i could find for a marriage was elizabeth mc gill wilson adair. might be a clerical error . married a anthony morton in kilmarnock scotland 27th sept 1901. if you have a latterday saints church near you , you can phone for an appointment to look through their files . they have millions! they are very helpful and its free ! failing that you can check their website. good luck

Hi Gerald - I found this post (as I've just joined I am unable to PM just yet).
I am able to provide all the information you need on your Great Aunt Elizabeth McGill as she is my GGrandmother.
Elizabeth actually got married before she moved to Scotland. 22/05/1897 to my GGrandfather James McLaughlin. Married at Limavady Roman Catholic Church, Drumachose, Londonderry.
I look forward to sharing much more information with you!
