Hello ..........
Can anyone help with a look up for Greenfield Villa, Taliesin Street, Llandudno please......
I have a relative born there, 14th October 1891. She was born with the name Marie Perry, but I suspect that her parents were not married. Mothers maiden name was Mary Hughes.......
I am hoping to find another child there. I know she was called Nellie, but not sure if this was a shortened version of Ellen etc. I have found the birth of a little girl Emily Ellen Perry, born in 1890, but cannot trace her on the 1891 census.......
Thank You for any help

Jeannie,
I haven't had any luck with the 1891, but have found 1901, which I presume you have already?
Barton Grange, Taliesan St., Llandudno.
Mary Hughes single, 29 born Llandudno - kept by a man!
Maria Hughes, single, 10, born Llandudno.

Jeannie,
Me again !!
I have found the following births -
Emily Ellen Perry - March quarter 1890 - Conway - 11b - 448
Marie Perry - December quarter 1891 - Conway - 11b - 440
Glenys

Glenys....
Thank You so much for your swift response.....no I hadn't seen the 1901 census, and it do's help.
Mary Huighes, is stated to be the "wife" of Joseph Patrick Perry, on the birth certificate of Marie, in 1891. But he was already married, and a Catholic.
Joe Perry, was Leader of the Happy Valley Minstrels, who were quite famous in Llandudno.
I have just found his obituary, in 1904 and it names two daughters, we knew nothing about ! It does state that they were at a Convent School abroad, but there is no mention of a wife at all.....
I had seen the Emily Ellen registration, and thought this could be "Nellie"
Isn't this hobby exciting !
regards

Hi JeannieR,
There is a Beaumont family living at Greenfield Villa, 5 Taliesin Street in Llandudno in 1891. They are:-
Walter Beaumont, aged 36, born Middlesex London
Alice Beaumont, aged 32, born Middlesex London
Alice Beaumont, aged 11, born Middlesex London
Maud Beaumont, aged 7, born Essex Stratford
Walter is a Professional something (can't make it out)
Class: RG12; Piece: 4674; Folio 85; Page 29.

Hello Gwyn.......
That's brilliant !!
And ties in with what I know, The Beaumonts were mentioned in the obituary, and I think Walter may have been a professional musician/ singer and quite possibly, have been a member of The Happy Valley Minstrels.
I am as sure as I can be, that the lady that Glenys found on the 1901 census is Marie's mother.
This is turning out to be a really racy branch of the family !! No wonder marie became a Nun !
Many Many Thanks to you both......

No problem. Actually his wife and older daughter have ditto under his occupation so it looks like they were professional something-or-others as well.

Hi, I'm DaveR and I post on the LlandudnoLocal forum. Here's some information that might be of interest.
'Professor' Walter Beaumont was a diver, he gave regular diving exhibitions from the pierhead and, from 1895 to 1909 gave spectacular underwater displays in a glass sided tank in the Eqyptian Hall (part of the Pier Pavilion building). He was also Licencee of the Kings Head pub from 1898-1911.
In May 1903, the town council presented him with an illuminated scroll, to mark his bravery in assisting with the rescue of 113 people off Llandudno beach.
His daughter Alice, who joined the act when she was only 6, married Belgian violinist Henri Verbrughen, from the Pier Orchestra. On 16 May 1964, their daughter Gabriel Woodward, of Las Vegas, returned to Llandudno aboard the luxury cruise liner Kungsholm, for a 6 month holiday with her aunt, Maud Deacon at St Margaret's Drive, Craig Y Don, Llandudno.

Hi,
I'm looking for any help in finding the parents of my Grandmother, Margaret Davies, born 1870. Her father was Unknown Davies, and Mother Grace. Her sibling's were Jane Elizabeth, Mary Ann and David. She married William Thomas Williams, and had two sons William Thomas, b. 1895, and David, (my father) b. 1902. The family were from Llandudno, North Wales. Thanks, Davina Zanni.
