Looking for details on the following family please:
William SEFTON who married Mary FINLAY (may originally been from Belfast) in Tullylish Church of Ireland, Parish of Tullyshire, Civil District of Banbridge in 1866 Co. Down.
Their children born Warringston, Co. Cork:
Valentine born 1866
Jane born 17 Mar 1868
Sarah born 1870 Ireland/England?
They came to New Zealand in 1874 where I believe another daughter Ester was born onboard the boat, 15 July 1874.
Thank you.

Moderator's Note: Waringston is in Co. Down not Cork so this post moved from Co. Cork board and merged with Co.Down thread.

From the free database search on ancestryireland.com William and Mary’s parents appear to be Valentine and Joseph respectively. You can order a transcript of the marriage certificate details from this site for £4.

Moving to the LDS Pilot Site for the Irish GRO birth indexes you can find references to order certificates for Valantine and Sarah
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=collectionDetails;t=searchable;c=1408347
Valentine Sefton, Birth, Lurgan District, 1867, Vol 1, Page 771
Sarah Sefton, , Birth, Lurgan District, 1869, Vol 16, Page 750
This is the information you require to order certificates from the GRO in Belfast for £6 each (but don’t say you got the information from the LDS website – it only causes problems)

If you only want basic details of the birth entry for Valentine go to the LDS IGI at

VALENTINE SEFTON Male
Birth: 19 DEC 1866 Waringstown, Down, Ireland
Parents: WILLIAM SEFTON MARY FINLAY
[Nothing found for Sarah again]
I had a look on the sites mentioned for marriages for Joseph Finlay or Valentine Sefton senior, but no likely matches came up. Civil registration only began in 1845, so church records would be your best bet.
There seem to be a lot of Seftons in the Banbridge/Lurgan area (including 4 Valentines with deaths registered in the period 1864 to 1900) so best to look for church records in that area.

These Seftons mentioned here:

IGI lists Valentine Sefton born 19 Dec.1866 Waringstown district

does anyone know if and how Samuel Sefton and his daughter Annie Sefton (married Isaac Smyth 5/3/78 in Tullylish ) may be conected to these Seftons. Samuel would be my wife's ggggrandfather.
-
William, Esther and Valentine's parents were Valentine Sefton and Jane Cavart. Valentine Snr was a farmer. Esther was born in Tullylish, County Down, Ireland about 1840 and married John Adamson in 1861, then they migrated to NZ in 1865. Their daughter Letitia married my GG Grandfather (was a second marriage for him, I descend from his first marriage.)
I got the parents names from Esther's death certificate that I received today.
