Hi Sweetlady
Welcome to rootschat ;D
Are you able to give us some more information on your John Edward please. What does it say on his marriage certificate -when did he marry - who are the witnesses - how old is he . Can you tell us where you have him on a census to save us looking again.
Thanks

John Edward married in 1915 his age made him born in 1878 occ Time clerk
and in 1911 found he was born in Liverpool ( grew up in Birmingham ) and Occ clerk
His father was Edward Parry (dec) Commercial Traveler
His wife was Sarah Mallen, have all her family and John and Sarah were living with her brother Henry in1911, witness's to the marriage were henry mallen and his wife
John Edwards Son John Henry Parry was born in 1906 !!!! (parents married on birth certificate and in 1911 census) the address on marriage and birth certificate and in 1911 census, was confirmed by a living relatives.
what else can i tell you?
I do think I have the family in the 1881 1891 1901 census If i am correct i THINK i also have the parents of Edward, but I can not find the BIRTH certificate of John Edward to confirm it..

Per freebmd
Births December qtr 1878
John Edward Parry West Derby 8b 272
As you know his fathers name, you could always send for a copy of the birth cert but put a condition on your application that you only want it if father was Edward. If it’s the wrong one – you will only be charged a search fee of £3

There are four John Parrys whose births were registered in Liverpool in 1877 and 1878. Have you tried any of those? Have you ordered any certificates for Edward John rather than John Edward?

Jacquie
sent for 8 between 1876 - 1879
to see which would have the fathers edward none came back...
The ones I have sent for are not Edward either
It was something I was thinking about.. but if he was registered at school as John Edward surely that must be his name?

Not necessarily. That would be too easy. ;) ;D
You indicated that you think you have the family on the 1881 - 1901 census. I found the 1881 census entry and see his mother's name was Mary. Was she called Mary on each census?

but 1901 the two boys were wrong too..

I'm wondering whether the enumerator made an error when he was copying out the Edwards' household on the 1891 census and Edith is John Edward. I've come across errors like that during my research.

I think i found John Edward 1891 in Pinner Commercial Travellers school.. born Toxteth
well I know its him.. if the birmingham family are the same ones as..
my reply told me
Enquiry of John Edward Parry Liverpool - we dont have one from liverpool but have one from Birmingham, (same address as the rest of the family.)
He went on to work for Stewart and MacDonald in Birmingham warehouses, as a clerk - I am trying to find out about them at the moment.

by the way we believe Edith went to canada, are there any census info there ?
I think she was possibly in London 1901 working as a servent for a Lady from Canada.
thanks for your input

There is a marriage in the Ontario marriage database that caught my eye:
Cecilia Edith Parry, 35, daughter of John Parry (deceased) and Mary Emma Owen married James Wood, 31, son of George Wood and Ann Elizah Miles on 28 May 1910 in Walkerville, Essex County, Ontario.
This Cecilia Edith's mother being named Mary and her maiden surname being Owen and your David's middle name being Owen is pretty coincidental. It makes me wonder if your John's father was named John Edward but called Edward.
Here's a link to the image from the 1911 Canada census for Leamington, Essex County, Ontario with James and Cecilia Edith Parry:
http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1911/pdf/e001986251.pdf
On the census, Cecilia Edith indicates she was born in Dec 1874 in England and that she immigrated in 1910.
If that isn't her, you can search the 1901 and 1911 Canada census at this site:
http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html
There is a Cecilia E. Wood in Detroit, Michigan on the 1920 and 1930 US census. In 1920 census she is with James and a widow in 1930.
I couldn't find a passenger list entry for her.
