Hi,
I am looking to find a baptism for my ancestor, John Peachey, B 1801C in Churchill, Oxon. Can anyone help?

Hi Sue
i have a copy of the Churchill PR, the earliest baptism of any Peachey is 1854 with Ann, daughter of James & Ann.
A John Peachey did get married in Churchill 10 Nov 1831 to Hannah Bryan. They are both listed as Sojourners, ie only living there temporarily,
hope that helps

Hi Colin,
Thanks very much for that information. They are my couple. I will have to try Sarsden as they seemed to have spent time there too.

hi sue,
there is a John Peachey baptised at Sarsden on 5 aug 1794 to Joseph and Jane.
There are no other John Peachey's between 1780 and 1820

Hi Colin,
Well, I'm stumped. The John you found is too old according to the census. Perhaps he wasn't baptised which would seem odd. He seemed to alternate between Churchill and Sarsden in the census. The only other place i know of a connection is Kingham. I don't suppose you have the registers for this village do you?

hi sue,
sorry don't have kingham PR's.
I checked again in the Sarsden PR's and there is a marriage of John Peachey in 1816 to Sarah Sherbourne. Not sure if that useful

Hi Colin,
I'm pretty sure that that John Peachey is the one born in 1794. I shall just have to keep hunting. Thanks for being so helpful.
Best Wishes Sue
