Title: Sentinel Archives
Post by: Pamtree on Tuesday 21 April 09 14:46 BST (UK)
I am looking for a photo printed  January 1931 in The Sentinel Newspaper. I have been to the library and seen the photo on microfilm but it is very poor quality.  The Sentinel office was burnt about 15 years ago destroying all the newspapers.
Does anyone know where local newspapers are held?

Newspaper Library (Belfast Central Library) is the most likely place- staff are very helpful. If you contact them they should be able to tell you if they have a copy of the actual paper.

Hi
Did you have any luck, I was looking for The Londonderry Sentinel around 1919 onwards and was told they didnt have them. They do have The Derry Journal.

I emailed Central Library Belfast 22/09/2009 but so far I have received no reply. I have also been in contact with a friend who works to the Limavady Sentinel but it seems to be  the case that all the archives have been destroyed 15 years ago by fire.
