Would someone kindly check the 1901 Cencus for the whereabouts of my great grandfather Edgar Lionel Hill born about 1898 and living with his parents Benjamin and Alice Hill. He may have been born in China and moved to India a few years later, but in 1901 I believe they were in Islington, London.
Many thanks

There is an Edgar R Hill, in Islington, of the right age and born in China but his parents are Leopold and Emma.
He has a sister Ethel, also born China.
Does this look at all familiar?

Hi Jennifer,
That's the one I saw but the parent's names are wrong as is Edgar's middle initial. But the coincidence of the birth in China is too big to be ignored.

Sadly, no. I am sure about the name of his parents. It is possible that they had moved to India at an earlier time.
Thank you anyways.

Hi, Could this be another branch of the family. What was your Edgar's father's occupation?

I am afraid I have no idea! All I know is that his father's name was Benjamin Cecil Hill born about 1865 and died in India about 1918. He married Alice Georgianna Dubois who died in 1943. Edgar may have been working in banking in India. He married Josephine Bampton who I clearly remember from my youth.
