Does anyone have access to MI - Inverkip burial ground. Sarah Williamson died in the Greenock Poorhouse 28 July 1855 and was buried at Inverkip. Also, Margaret Manners (Sarah's daughter) is believed to have died at the same poorhouse c 1851 but I don't know where she would have been buried. She only had one son and he was only 13 or 14 at the time of her death. I don't know if her brother Archibald Campbell , or her step family the Williamson's were able to afford a burial.
I believe there are no extant records for the Greenock Poorhouse but I wonder if anyone knows where I might find out about this particular poorhouse.
Thanks
Shirley

Thanks Chrissey and Elaine
I don't know much of the WIlliamsons - all I have is that Sarah married WIlliam Williamson after her first husband Archibald Campbell died and that William and Sarah had three children, Sarah, George and John, so I don't think my William fits on your tree unless there are brothers etc.

Hi Shirley
I have the MI book but fraid no headstone for your folks there. That doesn't mean not buried there, just that there isn't a headstone.
Best Wishes

Hi Shirley
This might give you a wee bit more info. It shows where the workhouse was
http://www.workhouses.org.uk/
I also checked to see if there was an OPR death record on Scotland's People - bit of a long shot as there aren;t many and fraid nothing there.

Thanks again Ann.
I have looked at the workhouse site and it certainly was very informative. I got a good picture of what my ancestors must have gone through. It's no wonder they died so soon after taking up residence. The conditions were no better than what they faced on the outside.

may get noticed more if it is new
also give as much info as possible you have given the area
