Trying to find out about the Sartini side of the family, Who was her father and mother had she any brothers and sisters. Is anybody researching the Sartini name, hoping somebody can help.

RoryT are you trying to pull SAMYJAY'S lag with the chip shop in Ballyfermot.

We need help on this board not leg pulling.

Sorry,
wasn't trying a leg pull, I thought that it might assist you in your search.  The info from Griffiths would suggest that they didn't own any land, but if they lived in tenements then they would not be listed.

I dont see the surname mentioned in any early directories either..

I know that at least some of the Italian sounding names here arrived as artisan trades - sculptors, painters, etc

that looks like Enniskerry to me... the town beside Powerscourt estate.

edit : strike that... was distracted by the other Powerscourt, Co. Wicklow idea..

I had a look for the family on the census - and they are located Power's Court in the South Dock area of Dublin City and close to the Mount St and the Grand Canal.

map link : http://www.rootschat.com/links/063n/

according to a Thom's directory of the 1880s numbers 3 to 14 of that street were Tenements.

do you have the marriage cert for Amelia & Michael ? that would give her father's name & occupation.

there's an entry on a partial Dublin census extract of 1851 (head of household only) - that show :

Frances Sartiney (Sartine), 8 Sth King St, Dublin County

The name is listed like that with the brackets.
South King street is just off the Stephen's Green end of Grafton St.

Golden Lane is very close to Sth. King St....

Emelia Sartina 1873 Dublin South Vol 7 P638 with a corresponding entry for Michael Murphy.  Could these be yours.
