Hi,
I have James Scott married Jean Bell of Slamannan, no date. James and Jean had the following children, all born in Torphichen; Walter 1801, Catherine Gillon 1802, Agnes 1806, Henry 1808, Jean 1810, William Downe Gillon 1812, Janet 1814, Mary 1815, James 1817, Catherine Gillon 1819, Walter1821, Helen Gillon 1821, Sarah 1823 and Elisabeth 1825. I haven't been able to trace where James was born or who his parents were but assume that Gillon and or Downe came into it somewhere. Any help appreciated.

My GGGG Grandfather lived in Torphichen, although I believe he was born in West Calder. His parents are listed as William Calder and Mary Scot.
My GGGG grandfather was William Calder and was born around 1792 so his mother would be 1775 or before. i will be investigating this family now and will let you know if I find anything
