on my grandparents marriage cert, my grandfathers occupation is listed as 'dealer' as is his fathers. I am told from family members that the family were travellers [settled] what does 'dealer' mean? any help would be appreciated

I would presume the same as it does now i.e. someone who bought and sold things.
Lots of mine were dealers, horse dealers, horse sellers, general dealers etc etc. and on successive censuses they often changed from one to another but all implied selling something.
