Title: Winterborne Zelston Address
Post by: Hazel17 on Tuesday 14 April 09 23:35 BST (UK)
My 89 year old ancestor wrote out his 1911 census form and I'm trying to decifer the address. In 1901 he was living in Huish, Winterborne Zelstone. The 1911 address looks like the Red Cottages, W. Zelston, Blandford. Does this ring a bell with anyone? His name is Robert though and the R of Robert and Red aren't the same. The only other letters it could be are n or m I think.
I'm hoping someone will have local knowledge and know of the address. Here is the image of the address.

I think it says The Red Cottage rather than cottages, it's a little squished but think it is still an 'R' just a little less flamboyant as he was trying to keep it under the line.

I'm struggling to recollect as I've not been out there for years but am sure there aren't enough houses for any to be named cottages in the plural.

Thanks Jen. Red was my first initial thought.

Any more local knowledge from anyone would be welcome.

Hi,

The Winterborne Zelston page on http://www.opcdorset.com is a website set up by a resident, who might be able to help.

A resident might well have local knowledge. Thanks Nanny Jan, I'll make contact with the OPC for WZ.
